Tour of Switzerland 2025

of course you’ll recognize an awful lot of the branding from the Juralia rcs are the same organizer laana sparkling mineral water a firm feature all the way through these things of course don’t often get the camera right in amongst everything backstage but it’s quite nice fine looking trophy isn’t it by the time we get to Pinerolo on Sunday who’s going to have their hands on that will it be Yano Weidar with the first ever doubling up in this race the first rider to win two will it be Sparfel on debut just like Yanov Vida did he’s looked great today what kind of form is the Norwegian Jorgen we’re going to find out part of that i think we’re going to find out tomorrow too once we climb up to the Chima Copy uh Jonathan Jonathan the Belgian who not many in fact I’m going to say any that I heard were talking about in the run into this stage we heard his disappointment in his time trial performance yesterday because he is a fine time trialist but he really enjoyed in fact the questioning there was talking about today if it was if it were a time trial away with just one other rider who wasn’t able to go with him when he did what he described as being opening up the taps need to go full gas once the gap had come beneath two minutes and he did that and then went back to being nearly three minutes in the lead again my suspicion looking at the way he rides is that won’t be the first time we see him spraying the uh Atoria or champagne will it be the last time this week that’s the question how ready do Suda Quickstep’s development team feel to defend what we’ll see in a moment will be his Malia Rosa 30 seconds the gap over Sparfell but Sparfell let’s see hang on a minute let’s see where Sparfell has moved up to on GC not a big time trial it’s not Sparfel i didn’t notice where he’s moved up to with those bonuses spark still not inside the top 10 just yet with that moved up 12 places today oban Sparfelt to 16th going into tomorrow’s stage he is 40 seconds now so he’ll be chasing back the time that he lost in yesterday’s opening time trial there’s Russa with the stage win with that gap comes one of the most beautiful jerseys in world cycling what a special moment you can only imagine what it will feel like for a young rider like him to be pulling on one of the most coveted race jerseys in world cycling looking down seeing the color of it of course he’s already got the uh the branded color glasses all ready for it what a fantastic ride doing it the really hard way today i love the idea that when your gap’s down to two minutes you then get told to fully open the taps he’s got a lot in the tank hasn’t he because once he’d been told that and when he was by himself he then took out nearly another minute very impressive young man and there are those overall standings still shaped very much from that big group that finished behind him by yesterday’s time trial the big mover of course Jonathan Bin moving up 15 places and the other big mover as I say Sparfell moving up 12 places they’re the only ones actually in the top 20 who’ve moved up there’s a few others outside that who’ve moved up on account of seconds they picked up ian Bahumi moving up three places after the bonus seconds he picked up as well he also picks up the points jersey won’t be able to wear that tomorrow that will roll down to the the next rider that can tell you who that is in just a moment i tell you what I just noticed the Sudan Quickstep team have obviously or he and the team I think are an Oakley sponsored team because in the time he’s gone back there he’s taken off the first pair of sunglasses he’s been given on his cap and he’s been given a different set of sunglasses i’m actually not entirely sure he hasn’t also changed the watch product placement is amazing in these uh in these podium presentations now somebody a team carer or someone has actually gone to the bother of taking the original glasses the pink ones he had off his head and they’ve now given him a purple pair a shame they didn’t have a red one to go with his jersey but they’ve deliberately somebody has deliberately changed those glasses to a different model and so often they’re not the model that the rider was wearing during the race he wasn’t wearing either of those two pairs of glasses during the race of course I’m doing them a favor by picking it out but I always find it fascinating that so it should be Obas Barel then who uh wears that jersey tomorrow so that’ll make him even easier to pick out as we go into the Paso Del Maniva he picked up third place at the first intermediate sprint point and then second at the finish as well so great riding by the young Frenchman still with time to make up though as we know but maybe that’s a good thing for him maybe he can still fly a little bit below that radar matis Vancouver hanging on to his blue King of the Mountains jersey and doing so really well today actually that King of the Mountains point by coming through and taking um third place and two points there whether he will look to defend that tomorrow we’ll see but he certainly was intent on doing so today doing it quite cleverly as well not sure too many around him were that bothered or expecting it but he did it exactly the right way should just be one more jersey to present now to the best of those first year under 23s i’m always nervous in a race list to call it the best young rider because they’re all very young with the youth rider here youth riders classification going to the 18 and 19 year olds riders born in 2006 there you go there it is var with his winning ride today moving up to second so two Belgians on top of the best climbers standings that is Vancouver uh should now be able to wear that jersey tomorrow and finally the same guy Matis Van Kova the Belgian rider for Vizmiss will be the leader in the best young youngest let’s call it the best youngest riders competition and I’ll work out tomorrow of course the order of importance between the white jersey and the King of the Mountains jersey i think he actually might be he’ll be in the white jersey tomorrow don’t worry I will work it out let’s see how well he goes tomorrow on the uh the climb to the or up the passiva going to be a fascinating finale tomorrow the first summit finish of two in this year’s 48th edition of the Cher Italia NextG we’re going to be there for probably the last two two and a half hours of coverage for you make sure you join us won’t you you have been witnessed today particularly if you’ve watched this live to a fantastic performance by Jonathan Vin we look forward to seeing how the young Belgian goes tomorrow that’s the best youth standing of the riders born in 2006 as we’ve just seen on the podium make sure you join me JZ Cox for tomorrow’s stage three on Tuesday racing towards the first summit finish to the Chima copy the high point of this year’s race a 13 12 km fiber climb up the Paso del Manila big sort out coming how well can Jonathan Vavven do to hang on to the Malar Roa join us tomorrow for coverage of stage three thanks for your company today from me Jeff Scots for now bye-bye australia indonesia foreign speech she’s the Woo this is my bike forucation okay for speech location stream fore foreign foreign with problemmo fore foreign foreign fabio meet them home not very A little bit better foreign speech foreign speech foreign speech she’s a large Spring is the hunting foreign speech foreign speech foreign speech stephanie to your What a day it’s been group of three out fronts all day honest efforts never looked likely that it was going to survive pelaton not willing to give them too much uh too much rope so now the EF education easybo squad just setting up on the right hand side alanazi increasingly looks as if he’s going to be the preferred option here and now he felt that the pace just wasn’t quick enough and the road not narrow enough to control so a little bit of a late show that’s Kristen Gone and that’s what we expect from this man and Yan Kristen has decided that’s quite enough of that and this is the best play for the UAP team ever squad because they’ve decided to go raiding here who can control no panic from the EF Education Easy Post squad as they put their entire team on the front in pursuit the other teams will be happy enough with this one and the the road’s kind of flattened out a little bit by the overhead picture but this gives a better sense of it has he got the the legs to be able to endure uphill all the way to the finish yan Christen in the wars yesterday but the 20-year-old superstar in the making from the UAT Emirates XRG squad has got a bit of an advantage here will it be enough inside 2 km remaining and they’re not yet panicking in the group behind because they’re leaving it up to the if education easy post squad to try and set it up and continue this one all the way to the line christristen oh his face contorted with pain his brother’s in the bunch behind on working for the Q36.5 squad but the UAT member XRG team on the front trying to recover difficult day yesterday from them phis Shartner the best place rider in sixth overall and Joah Ma back in 25th overall and this is an opportunity for Yan Christristen maybe to move up overall but more importantly to take what would be a famous victory if he gets to about four or 500 meters to go with an advantage like this he’s he’s home and hosed i think it’s a little bit of a downhill ramp to the finish line and then it sort of levels off in the last couple of hundred meters under the kite and he’s got enough to maybe think that this could be on Yan Christristen and now we’re starting to see a little bit of a reaction as the IOS Grenadier squad try to get themselves organized behind who’s this to be for ben Swift is a fine finisher and well placaced overall as well in the top 10 he’s starting to hurt he’s starting to feel it and he’s starting to run out of breakfast a little bit here they’re coming from behind the Tudtor Pro cycling squad so involved in chasing it down hower perhaps could be an option for them and here comes Quinn Simmons and he’s going to deny Yan Christristen as he tries to set something up for the lead track squad behind quinn Simmons goes with a little bit of a late one and Su open up in a bit of an advantage the US champion this is for him and not for anyone else and into the final 400 meters as coming from behind asi is waiting or could it be Kung even no it’s Aski I think in second place and waiting for a moment to pounce aski coming around the outside here comes Mikos as well for the A Education Easy Post Squad running to the line and who’s going to get this one and it is a complicated finale but it’s success for the if Education Easy Post Squad they’ve got the glory on the day wow joy on bounds and what about that and it is Alanazi that’s got up to take this one for the EF Education Easy Post Squad probably the biggest victory in his career an absolutely massive success at world tour level for Venenzo Albanes of the F Education Easy Post Squad who put himself in prime position and was alive to every danger and his team gave an exemplary performance of of team racing and lead out duties and what a what a performance on the day from Venenzo Albanazi to be able to convert that one no easy sprint finish for that and present at all the right moments and with the legs to match vincenzo Albanzi the 28-year-old Italian from Oliveta Citra takes the glory and gets the welcome embrace from his uh his teammates at the end of a successful afternoon of racing for the EF Education Easy Post Squad well by my calculations that’s his first world tour of success his first victory of of any sort since 2022 stage of tour lima is at a a slightly lower level than this race albanese be made up after that one ninth in the GP jiban on Friday a signal of good legs to come couple of top 10s this year but this is by miles the biggest success and he will be absolutely thrilled with that one has indeed will Neilson Palace and the rest of the squad well something with bubbles in it tonight I think for that huge win for Vincenzo Albanazi fabio Christristen it was getting up for second for the Q36.5 squad they were certainly involved in the late action lewis Asi hanging on for third after launching first of the of the sprinters and Quinn Simmons after his early effort with about 500 to go was still good enough for fourth place gives you a sense of just how demanding that finale was just what a massive achievement it is for Venenzo Albanes he starts to come to terms with the scale of his achievement a huge win for him in his career world Tour points and Switzerland a happy hunting ground for the for the Italian rider from southern Italy let’s get a look at this again into the closing moments looked like Alfalipe actually was getting involved to try and close down Quinn Simmons didn’t have the legs to do it and then Lewis Hasky had to do a job albanazi in in the box seat really wasn’t he Fabio Christristen as well had followed the wheels absolutely perfectly having seen his brother UAE rider overhauled inside the final 500 by Quinn Simmons simmons now finding himself uh in a very vulnerable position hanazi goes at just the right time kristen doesn’t have the room but there’s just not enough room available really and
