Hi all
I’m building a road frame up that I’ve had for a while. I saw a carbon fork in fb marketplace and at 50eur I felt I had to pick it up without thinking about compatibility. Now I have a fork that doesn’t fit my frame and am unable to proceed with the build. Does anyone know if an adapter of sorts exists to enlarge the bearing and fork compatibility or something like that? I know it is a stupid question, but I’m at my sanity’s end here. Have tried googling a bunch without luck.
Thank you all!

There are adapters for ec44 headsets that would allow for a tapered fork. But you didn’t really give much information about the dimensions of the headtube or what kind of headset it takes
You need a compatible headset. I believe, if your headtube is 44mm or more, you could install a headset with external cups that would make it compatible with cone forks. Ask your LBS, getting a right headset for the frame is a pain in the ass
If the frame is designed to have a headset cup pressed in (maybe a ‘zero stack’ originally), you should be able to press in an external cup instead.
If the frame has an integrated headset, where the bearing rests directly in the head tube against the metal of the frame, I don’t think there is any easy solution.
Correct advice above, but I’ll add: Headset compatibility is also where I had to bail out and get my local shop to order the right stuff.
Thank you all – i have found exactly what I needed from your comments. I will order an EC headset external cup, dimensions are verified and I’ll give it a shot. Thank you!
Avenue frames are so heavy i dont get it why would you build something on this city bike frame
How’d you obtain an avenue frame rather than a full build?
