what an opener we had at the tour of Switzerland when it came to day two it was a possibility of making amends for those teams that basically messed it up well a super winner yesterday in Gregoire real vim and vigor he displayed in that run to the line and so opportunities were starting to get a bit thin on the ground has he already wrapped up the title well there’s a lot of high ground still to come where he’ll be in defensive mode but for others this was a chance for a stage win on the table not a flat table either especially a lumpy end would it be the GC men or would it indeed be the Classics Boys or the durable sprinters that would come through and thrive we wouldn’t know until the very last certainly a breakaway was a possibility on this day we’d had 29 up the road on stage one how many would be brave enough to take this on well the answer Maros Schmidt was certainly there for Jo the Swiss champion he was with Siland of Alpine Dernik who just found it just a little bit too much to be up the road yurus Rush was also there but so was the Pelatin only at a margin of around 90 seconds throughout the day they certainly realized the threat that the Swiss champion was posing up the road and finally this breakaway was to be declared almost with 55 kilometers to go difficult task at hand so one Swiss gone one still thriving anglehart in the mountains jersey was there to pick up anything that was left behind as far as the points were concerned with the breakaway hooving up the majority of those markers for the King of the Mountains competition well he did not want to miss out in that red jersey the only other jersey owned by another rider other than of course our leader Roman Gregoire so it was lively as he picked up Mountains Points you can see just behind Tudtor Pro Cycling were trying to tee up another Swiss Mark Essie for glory at the end of the day in fact they did much of the chase work moderating the breakaway under that threat that Maro Schmidt was posting others were starting to struggle and indeed there was the none too small matter of the last remaining bonus second up for grabs at the Tiso sprints first of those sprints came and the bonus second went to our leader Roman Gregoire he was up for it again second time of asking but working hard team Jac were not going to allow him any more points because Ben O Connor is so well placed overall engelhart snapped that last intermediate bonus second denying Roman Gregoire and so it was that we came to our finale this was the moment that I’m afraid the Yurus Rush said see you just as Silvan Dillier had done previously and Marshmitt it was that found himself off and away could he make it home the answer ultimately was to be no with 16 km to go it’s just a handful of seconds and he was starting to pedal squares meanwhile other teams were starting to think about this finale what a finale it was to turn out to be there were flyers a few of them rounded everybody else vanden Bosch was one of those after Yan Christristen had also had a dig in fact Christristen was looking extremely lively considering he’d supermaned down the road on a couple of occasions and yesterday was carrying an awful lot of wounds by the day’s end and then just look at this falank of pink jerseys starting to move up taking control at the head of the race firepower in abundance this was Kristen having yet another dig looking like the mummy with so many bandages out there but he wasn’t to be the daddy I’m afraid no he was to be wound in at the very last big tea up going on nobody quite knew how this one was going to pan out aski looked extremely lively quinn Simmons as well looked like he was going to drag race all the way home and then just look at that wheel three was bound to come and it was Albanazy this a huge surprise we thought Medits would be their chosen son alanazy had the power but he was on closed down mode short its way home and delivered boom biggest win of his career world Tour victory at long last after being second on so many occasions it was a cathartic moment for him super work well he was on bullying mode at the very last but kept it all clean all fairing love war and of course sprinting his arms in the air and a very emotional man afterwards saying how much he’s enjoyed that and it’d been such a long time coming well as you can see a real mix there of punchers durable sprinters and even the odd GC man through that stage podium going the way of a very brave man who’s waited a long time for this to be his moment congratulations to Almanazi and likewise the Roman Gregoire was so feisty out there picking up bonus seconds whenever they presented themselves that’s what it’s all about so the lead remains the same gregoire delighted to be in the spotlight as a youngster just 22 years of age and you never know he might actually hold on to this one all the way if indeed the likes of Ben O’ Conor can’t snaffle him this is what we’re dealing with tomorrow it should be unchanged overall but you never know quite what’s going to happen destination Hiden hiding to nothing for some it might well be a breakaway but it’s a lumpy old finale as well that takes us to the line almost a character of this race for the first three stages stage three tomorrow destination hiden look at that we’re going to have a proper wrestle at the last as usual
