Sorry about the shaky camera in the dark, really nothing I can do about it. Anyway I’m back on the continent heading south on the Magistrala, a big busy beautiful road down the coast in Croatia. Also, Pičo the legend in the thumbnail is the guy who gave me a boat tour
all right well this is probably the worst case scenario hop off right after sunset in the middle like a little in the city center this could not be worse this is jam-packed [ __ ] brother holy [ __ ] jesus Christ that was chaotic now the search for an abandoned building begins or really just anything [ __ ] i hate riding in the dark oh well yo hear me out hear me out this one won’t work cuz it’s not the right type where you climb on one of these bad boys and sleep on top that’s lowkey a shot this one’s just like not the one but holy that’s a that’s a shot we’ll see finally found some like random junkyard spot but it’s going to do this [ __ ] lying around everywhere like a old tire big cement block pile of broken bricks so yeah I’ll just set up my tent here [ __ ] it it’s quite close to the main road but not close enough and it’s like a junkyard i don’t think people are going to come here so yeah [ __ ] it this is the trash dump I slept in not amazing but I didn’t smell bad and [ __ ] it weeball packing up and luckily there’s a supermarket right on the Magistra i didn’t even know I was on the Mistrala but that’s the main road running along this coast but yeah so big day today not big 80 kilometers max if I take the detour I want to take and yeah let’s go all right got to supermarket time to go get water and food that’s the longest I’ve waited for a cashier longer than waiting in Costco lines with my mom when I was a kid i like fighting over the last carts there’s only like three cashiers open and there’s like 500 people inside so yeah got out of it [ __ ] it we ball i ate half the stuff I had while I was waiting in line so I paid less you win some you lose some i just ate breakfast while people watching over here look I got one of my bottle is like a old bottle it was manufactured before they implemented that EU wide all water bottles have to all bottles have to like have the cap attached which is funny i saw a lot of people complaining about that [ __ ] who gives a [ __ ] all right let me get out of here hey here we are in Sukashan this is the biggest marina in the Adriatic Sea where like probably around like a fifth of the world’s sailboat are stored this is like the center where all the sailing starts for Croatia at least second biggest one is Punat i think I showed you guys that one as well anyway onwards this is a this is the Magistrala the main road going down the coast and uh we’ll be on this main road for like 50 km it’s going to get like right up next to the sea going up and down around cliffs yeah it’s going to be interesting it’s It’s not a safe road for bikes but it’s not the worst either so we’ll just bike holy [ __ ] chaos brother jesus Christ there’s a lot of cars people honking people cursing each other out god damn got to get out of this busy place the first stretch of the magistral look like this quite flat cuz we’re still in the zadar plane but yeah it’s nice cars are being careful um head on a swivel don’t get hit don’t get hit don’t do like stupid maneuvers so yeah bike path hell yeah beautiful views we’ve made it to Bioat Namoro we got a pretty massive marina too uh I’m just going to find a shaded spot sit for a bit cool down and then bike on cuz this isn’t the most interesting of places back on the Mistrala on my left we have some sort of big ass lake all right we got the sea but it’s a little further away after that we’ll be in Razina i don’t know if I told you guys but I I’m visiting not even family just like friends from back home in Canada who have uh their like immigrated from this town and now they’re back for like summer vacation so I’m going to go join them like family friends in Croatian we call them kumovi it’s like Very good family friends what the [ __ ] is going on over here what’s that guy pushing pulling in the middle of the road what the [ __ ] what the all right that was quite the encounter i have no idea where that guy’s from it’s called Sandy and he spoke very good English he said he spent like quite a while in like California and stuff but he’s like definitely like the extreme like homeless version of what I’m doing uh that shopping cart he’s logging around with like a [ __ ] ton of stuff he doesn’t need is he got it in the reeka he got it like 500 kilometers away maybe not 500 but like very far away and he’s been walking since Austria which is wild he’s like a lost soul I would call him cuz he has no idea what he’s doing he’s just going from a place to another place detached completely like from anything and yeah we had like a nice 15-minute conversation i was like “Yeah I got to go.” And he’s like “Man thank you so much for talking to me you’re like the first nice person I’ve met in a week.” I was like “Damn damn that sucks yeah the road calls we must go on [ __ ] that’s no good oh yeah [ __ ] these uh lines that they put on bumps and [ __ ] [ __ ] annoying but there’s a forest fire in the distance and there’s a [ __ ] plane there’s a plane flying and dropping water god damn this shit’s pretty serious there’s two planes [ __ ] yeah I’m turning left like over there so shouldn’t affect me but damn that’s [ __ ] to see hopefully there ain’t more on the way all right we’ve turned out from the Mistrala now we’re going to Razelina where uh the Kirka River meets the sea this still the sea even if it’s still far inland it’s like a how do you call those deltas or whatever when the sea comes far in land i mean the water is salty but it joins a river i don’t know yeah we’re almost there this area is gorgeous wow nice windy roads beautiful canyon this is sick oh I’m tired all right final descent in burn country towards Arasina well uh we’ve made it lovely little rustling on the lake salt Lake boom stuff’s out here it’s probably where I’ll sleep yeah okay uh update so I kind of messed up and I left you guys the camera to charge um but this morning we went fishing with one of Daniela’s friends danielle’s the one of the kumov with whom I’m staying right right now this is their place and uh one of her friends uh does photoggramometry and he’s like “Yeah tomorrow I’ll go out to this uh to across the bay on uh this peninsula where there’s like an an old wall and I’ll I’ll scan the wall like for I’ll take pictures of the wall to make a photogometry model.” Like yo sick can I join so I went flew the drone and turns out this whole peninsula is like you saw or you’ll see I don’t know where I’ll put this footage but so this whole peninsula is a settlement like they call it rasina which means old rasina and right now this is regular just rasina the the town we’re in and yeah like I couldn’t find any information about anything online and so I looked into it further asked some locals got a boat tour from one of the locals like he was just going out to retrieve his nets and I was like “Oh I can tell you all about it do you want to join me on my boat?” And he just like drove me around like I’m really pissed I didn’t have the [ __ ] camera cuz now you got to you guys are stuck listening to me podcast about it instead of seeing me actually do it which happens quite a lot with me it’s pretty bad but yeah so that was like epic that was like got a boat tour told me it was like a Turkish I mean a Ottoman uh outpost that got from like the 1600s that got run over by the Croats burned down and uh just abandoned and it was like uh they had a prison apparently but I find it super interesting that there’s like urban legends the locals like will tell you stuff but you go online and you cannot find any information about this spot so yeah that that was pretty cool i know I’m interested there’s like a bunch of archaeology all over the region so I’ll I’ll probably stay today again uh and leave tomorrow but yeah that’s
