Hello, I am a complete beginner / noob in the biking world and have started to use my brother bike which seems to be this: (https://silverbackbikes.de/products/stride-sport) and had the chain snap on me on two different occasions but I am just not sure why. Could someone please shed some light?

do you pedal hard while switching gears?
It looks pretty fresh, but how old is the chain?
Is absolutely abnormal to have a chain snap on you, it is probably defective or it was installed incorrectly. Did it got a link broken? Was it the link with the removable pin, or a quick link? This is not normal and very dangerous
Because your bike is so cool, it’s off the chain!
Usually when I break chains it’s from pedaling too hard while also shifting gears; you want to let up on the torque as you shift.
Another common cause is “cross chaining” which is when the chain is on the very opposite sides of the front and rear sprocket: https://www.bikeradar.com/advice/workshop/cross-chaining/
