i can’t get [Music] Riders ready watch the game [Music] so hello and welcome to the 2025 UCI BMX Racing World Cup calendar this is going to be a fantastic season we have some great action coming up for people my name is Matt Payne i am here with Rich Em rich we’re here in the commentary booth for what is going to be the first round of six rounds two rounds here at Sarion uh in France we also have Papel for two rounds and Santiago de Alistister for two rounds as well but we are here in Sion Rich it’s a fantastic venue here the track is going to be a real banger for everybody yeah it’s going to be a superb race here at round one of the 2025 UCI BMX World Cup we’re looking forward to some superb racing so it’s time to get down with our riders very shortly indeed we’re bringing you all of the race action from the eighth finals the quarterfinals the semi-finals and our finals as well so we’re going to be bringing you all of that race action here you can just see the finish line down here in Sion is incredibly warm in Sarion today as you would expect in the middle of July in southern France rich it’s a bit warmer uh than we’ve had before but we’re in a good time of year in terms of wind as well now we can see the gates up at the top of the start ramp currently just empty just waiting for the first of our riders to be coming out onto the top anything in particular happened in the qualifications Rich that you can that uh has been affected by the weather because it’s 32 degrees it’s 5 km wind anything drastic happened so far not particularly it’s pretty pretty much standard all the way through the qualifying sessions ross Cullen of Great Britain has put the uh fastest qualifying lap in Elite Men 32.615 so it’s been absolutely superb for him um yeah it’s been fairly standard so far and we’ve looked forward to some more racing as we go through so I think we’re going to be heading down to the gate fairly shortly indeed they’re just testing the gate but the set of the track at the moment scorching now we took we’re here last uh 2023 Rich for the World Cup it’s been home to two World Cups multiple French Cups European Cups and this has been a fantastic race for uh the riders to race on fantastic course to race on we had wind before and that has caused a problem the Mistral wind which blows up to 140 km an hour but it’s a lot better today a lot lower so no issues uh yeah the uh the track’s looking absolutely superb other people can’t go there so let’s get down to the racing and look at not only who is racing today but who is also going to be racing uh and the current racing it’s a bumper race field here today uh we’ve got a lot of riders made the way to the start this is this is my open so here we go these are our standings from 2024 so these are the standings for the men’s elite for 2024 isaac Kennedy just taking that from Cedric Booty it was a cracking season anybody particularly down here that that we know is not going to be with us yeah Nick Kimman of the Netherlands will be involved in this this round of the 2025 World Cup and we look forward to seeing him back when he’s fit and well again so let’s have a look at the women’s elite as SAS Kakibara was absolutely on fire she was fantastic all the way through the season at the moment though uh is she going to be the rider that we’re going to be looking at again this year the man and Visra had a real breakthrough year and I know Elise Willoughby not going to be with us for some for great reasons yeah for great reasons alisa Willoughby expecting her first child with husband Sam congratulations to them uh looking forward to seeing Scakibar man and Bethany Shrever battling for the 2025 World Cup title along with all those other riders in the top eight so we’re going to move across to our men’s under 23 or known as the Espo as well olivia Moran great riding by him last season taking the season standing from Greenoff and Asmus um Jack Greenoff down there in seventh place change because of Williams had a great season down in eighth anybody particularly that’s that that we’ve seen having issues today uh yeah Olivia Oliver Moran’s moved on to the elite men so he’s moved up a category uh looking forward to seeing to seeing Jesse Asmus in there Joshua Jolly riding well he’s already taken wins in the elite class in the USA BMX Pro Series so yeah some good riders in there ready to battle so let’s see who will be taking away sport here today i can’t wait for the racing Rich um it’s a bit of a strange season isn’t it it’s a nolympic year and we’ve seen we’re seeing still a fairly compressed World Cup with four rounds in the space of nine days we then move across to the World Championships and our last two rounds are right at the end of the season is that affecting how people have built up for this and and the pressure on riders to perform over these next nine days yeah they’ve certainly got to get the results in early mat as well and uh you know they’ve got a big gap then to the next round in Santiago Desterero in September so it just gives them time to put some extra training in and to be able to peak for that final race of the World Cup season so the riders just being readyed down just before the race start you can see the crowds just starting to make their way in today plenty of uh uh umbrellas uh which is paraplur in French uh but it makes sense when you think a parasol is anti- sun so they’re parasols today rather than paraplers apparently uh so I’ve been told by some French neighbors down the road so let’s dive down into our eighth finals the riders making the way through qualification and no motos because this is a world cup so we go through with the last chance qualifier for those people who don’t make it through and it’s only I’m right in remembering here two riders go through in the standard qualifiers to move through yeah two riders through in the last chance qualifier four riders through in that first round as we look at the women under 23 the eighth finals heat number one michel Ving in there Darren Mertton Franchesca Singalani Ivette Dard Meline Vidello Anise Ganier and Mariam Jam so this is the first of the eight finals eight to go quite obviously uh to most people I’m sure and this is now women’s under 23 competition if you’re just joining us we will be bringing you the eighth the quarterfinals in this we get about an hour’s break in between that for our riders to rest to recover before we then move on to our semi-finals and our finals which will be coming up later as well right getting him ready and in the run-up to this the practice seemed to be a not quite a demolition derby but there was a lot of riders going down in in practice uh over the preceding days if you’ve been watching social media you’ve kept up with a few of those i know Rich and I have um it’s usual isn’t it start of the World Cup we get that pressure build up we start to see riders really pushing it to the limits yeah I think uh you know the fact that we have come to the first World Cup of the season and and there is a little bit of pentup energy there and riders like Bella of Australia Callum Russell of Great Britain unfortunately sustaining injuries in the practice sessions before the race itself so they won’t be taking part today at uh at Sarons in round number one of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup we wish them all the best for a speedy recovery and I’m sure they’ll be back for rounds further down the line and if you are going on to social media do make sure that you check out the social media feeds for the BMX Racing it’s UCI BMX Racing on Facebook and on Instagram uh you can catch up with all things UCI of course at the UCI website that’s UCI.org you see riders getting checked in and through the commissers and race officials here at the Serion BMX Club making sure everything runs not only on time but you get the right riders in the right heat they’re looking after everything from car parking right the way through to the traffic management and and all the way onto site lots of the the local riders a lot of the people who support the club through the year are there as well and for a club that’s now it’s one of the big fives they do an amazing job of putting the racing on yeah sarion’s BMX club so well established in that area of France they do a superb job they’ve put UEC European rounds on French Cut rounds just the previous weekend before this particular race they’re wellversed and they know exactly what they’re doing and they do it supremely well so if anybody’s new to BMS and making the way here maybe jumped on board wherever you are in the world uh welcome it’s great to have you on board we’re going to try and not only cover off all of the utter geekiness that Rich and I uh absolutely love and all of the real keen uh things that we need to to get across but we’re also going to try and get across some of the the the real basics for you if you are watching BMX World Cup for the first time maybe you’ve just got involved you saw the Olympics which of course was so uh monumental last year and really crucial for the riders yeah certainly uh it was a great Olympics for France with you know the one 123 for the French elite men in that Olympic final yoris Dod taking that Olympic gold medal followed by Silan Andre and Roman Mayu and Sas Kakibara taking the gold medal for the elite medal so we’re going to see our first race out onto track the riders lining themselves up in the gates the riders identified by that plate on the front of the bike the pro gate has a random start sequence it’s an automated gate there’s several thousand I think it’s 1,700 and something different combinations if I remember correctly of the gate starting procedure so the riders will be ready and it’ll be time to go racing all right we are go with the first of the 18 finals for the women under 23 and this one features the winner of the 2023 race here at Sions that is Michelle Bissing of the Netherlands and she picks up the whole shot darren Mertton of the USA in there in two we’ve got Franchesca Singalani in the mix as well doing it for Italy molen Vidello in in the and it’s a Devour inside that four spots so it’s going Vissing Singalani Mert and Devour that is your 1 two three and four at the moment those four riders if they make it across the line in order they will progress through to the quarterfinal stage but Michelle Vissing picking up where she left off here in 2023 going across the line and taking that win great lap for Darren Mertton in there in three single Army taking the second and Devour rounding out the top four so Michelle Visting leading the qualifiers through and over the line there in the very first of our under 23 eighth finals here in Sion in southwest France we’re about 700 km south of Paris about 100 km north of the south coast so a real hot part of France and a very hot start from this thing to kick off yeah she get she got a great hole shot there you know what came out of that first turn first she had Merton behind her in that second spot singleani had managed to pick off that second place as they cross the line so they’re all through to the next stage so here are our official results with our first four riders with that qualifying mark against their name Misty Singalani Merton and Devour going through from the first of the eighth finals going to our quarterfinals second set now up and into the gate yeah just looking at Resan Samford then uh doing it for the Netherlands she came in in second spot here in 2023 so the podium makers from that last edition of the race here at Sarion’s ready to rock as we look at in Clayton’s of Switzerland on the inside there as they head down that first straight and she cases that first jump that’s pushed her right to the back of the pack so she’s got some work to do dominica Manikov in there it’s Micardo Sanfort Manikova Feda they are the one two three and four as they head towards turn number two van Sanfort looking very comfortable in that second position manikova in there in three but it’s Sheree fired mardo out in front 18.199 seconds to that second turn just getting overhold as they go into the final corner renavan Samp taking the lead away she’s going to hold it to the line looks like uh it’s going to be Manico in that run through who’s going to pick up that final qualifying spot to move through it’s going to be Feder of the USA yenska San Ra Van Samp looking good in these eight finals some real movement as we came off the turn there Rich in in positions three and four and that’s that’s the real key battle if you’re in position one position two you’re generally a little bit out of the way of that cut off marker that sort of 50% mark so getting out in front really really key the battle for third and fourth that’s where that real position change is easiest to take we did have a rider come down that was in Glac yeah Inis Glistens did not have the laps you wanted the start didn’t go away down in that first turn meanwhile Renavan Sanfort was taking the win so two of our eighth finals done and dusted already there’s the confirmed result van Fe Micardo Manikova and Feda going through Sham Gazi as well as Clayton’s not making the cut this time round on to heat number three yeah just looking at your world champion Veronica Stissa right there in gate number one she finished third overall in this category in the 2024 series so certainly a strong contender as we go through the 2025 World Cup gate drops on that third eight final for the women under 23 strisa on the inside in those world champion stripes she’s going to lead it into that first turn emily Hut of Great Britain in there in two lance and Shay following as they go down that second straight towards the second corner but it’s still Veronica Strisa out there in front or leaves the door wide open emily Hook dives in underneath her and she’s taken the lead away so Hut Strisco one and two into the corner robin Gomer’s getting involved as well and Nishimura of Japan but it’s going to be Emily Hut and Veronica Stisa who’s going to get it at the line hut looking good i think she’s going to hold on to it emily Hut Veronica Stisa they’re going to go one and two uh Keelish in three nishimura of Japan in four and it’s going to be a photo finish between Shay and Nishimura for the final position there the riders time to cross the line as a built-in timing system built into the track here that came in in 2022 that’s permanently installed here but if it’s ultimately super close it goes down to that photo finish stris looking very good yeah she did look very good but she left the door wide open in that second turn that allowed Emily Hut to dive underneath get herself in front she took the win and she’ll get a better gate pick in the next round and that’s the reason why it’s not just that race for third and fourth fifth sixth positions that battle for qualifying it’s also about getting right to the front and taking the win and getting the fast time down there yeah and there is your confirmed result emily Hut taking the win from Veronica Sta kisha and Anika Nishimura are rounding out the top four so it’s the Stansfville here in Sion in France we have three of our eight finals complete we’re going to move on to heat number four of our eighth finals the riders lined up and the pick of gate is basically dependent on what they’ve done in the qualifying on the way in and through the last chance qualifiers yeah the better the finish the better your gate pick in in essence that heat four of the 18 finals for the women under 23 that looks like Lily Greenoff of New Zealand oh one rider already down in that turn that was Namura I think of Japan who hit the deck she went down pretty hard let’s hope she’s okay but Lily Greenoff leading it out at the moment kira Murphy of Canada in there in that final qualifying spot we’ve got Laura Muj and Simish Kina the neutral athlete in there in that third spot but as they go into the final turn Lily Greenoff of New Zealand she’s in control she’s going to bring it to the line muja looking good you think she’s going to pick up that too yes she is who’s going to get that final spot on the line i’ve got a feeling it was the Canadian rider Kira Murphy so Murphy Simsia as well as Muja and Gainoff going through there your four qualifiers the riders very quickly cross getting themselves warmed down making sure that if they’ve got time to cool down they do that if not they will just be trying to keep those legs turning over ready to go into our quarterfinals it’s packed days racing for all of our riders you can see though that green off Muja Simsina going in through with Murphy from Canada the fourth of those qualifiers yeah as we look at Ava Corley of the USA just lining herself up behind that gate getting ready to go she’s put in some sparkling performances in previous World Cup seasons be interesting to see what she can pull out of the bag here in Sions and we do see riders changing a lot in terms of form in this in the under 23 because it’s such a developmental period of people’s lives in training in life in general and in terms of build in power in speed so whilst a rider might have a storming season one year it doesn’t guarantee they’re going to have a great season the next or vice versa no but I think being in the under 23 category like you say does give you time to develop as a rider before you make the move up into the elite ranks so you can see this heat as well as heat number six lined up it’s heat five that are going to go down to the gate and line themselves up and ready to go farrell Cly along with REA Clavis Garcia and Druit will be making the way down you can just see that Namura up and walking away the medics happy for her to walk away back down to that ten where she will no doubt be kept under observation just to make sure that all is good uh we’ve got concussion protocols in place so which checks the riders and make sure that they’re in a fit state to continue onwards and award treatment they need as we wait for heat number five to line up marie Favll on the inside for France with Ava Clay of the USA right there next to her in gate number two heat five of the women under 23 uh heading down the hill looks like Ava Collie did not get the start she wanted so she’s got some serious work to do and she dives underneath and goes from six to fourth that is the kind of move you need to be making in those corners i’m sure she might just pick up another couple of spots as we go through this race oh gets it slightly wrong down that second straight and that’s pushed her back again so from sixth to fourth and back to sixth again so Ava Collie of the USA under threat in this 18 final but it’s Fll who’s leading it into the final turn for France we’ve got Rouge in there as well and Leoni Dartate all from France as they take it to the line looks like Fll’s going to get it is Ava Collie going to go out yes she is disaster for Ava in that 18 final certainly didn’t go the way she wanted it to go and it went wrong from the start but then we saw her recover but then went really wrong as she went through that rhythm section no that was like me playing the drums it was way out of time wasn’t it yeah it was a very difficult one for Ava Collie though she just got it slightly wrong going down that second straight ruined her momentum she went from fourth back to six and then it’s just a chase to the line and you haven’t got much time to pull it back just checking out the replay here that is uh I think it’s Lily Greenoff out in front in her 18 final riding for New Zealand as the French rider follows her down that straight and we move on and the track just being prepared and looked after by our volunteers here at the Sarons BMX Club so the weather today not uh too hot in terms of temperature 35° is going to be the peak today at the average temperature this time of year 31 12° or so with a maximum of 39 the maximum recorded 39.6 so it is hot out there but it’s not the maximum temperature yet uh that we’re going to reach it’s going to reach its climax as we move in towards our elite finals it’s going to be the hottest part of the day as well next of our heats this is going to be heat number six so lined up ready to go our six riders on the line as well g Falls on the last of the one finals for the women under 23 oh Betsy Bax of Great Britain just got a nudge there and she’s gone down on that third straight first straight and Sienna Harvey in there in that fourth spot at the moment so it’s going to be very difficult for the uh Great Britain riders to kind of make it in at the top end of this particular uh heat sabina Kosakova is the rider out in front alexis Alden of the USA in there in three sienna Harvey has worked her way up there as well and Alina Beck of Germany getting involved and might just be inside the top four but there’s no doubt it’s Kosakova who’s bringing it down to the line she’s going to take the win disaster for Betsy B it looks like Sienna Harvey’s going to make it in in that third spot with Alina Beck in fourth so Alina Beck not going through sorry Alina Beck going through it’s going to be Savina who doesn’t make the cut there and Betsy back the rider who hit the deck early door does not be making it through either the riders very quickly switching over now we just seen them with the the seat pins we just said talk about this last year it is all about then changing that position getting ready to be able to ride around generally rather than having your race position on the bike all the time yeah just getting that tall seat post in there getting the lactic acid out of your legs just being able to spin it away before you get on the gate for the next round so making sure that you’re ready for your next race absolutely critical the track being watered in between trying to keep that dust down and it is an ashalt surface on the three turns on the way round then the rest is a loose very light gravel a calare uh type of surface a very fine dust almost that rises up as it dries out if it’s not kept watered we’re going to move across from our women’s under 23 across to our men’s under 23 8 finals there our next eight finals coming up and we’re going to see the riders out and away very shortly yeah just looking at Casper Peepers he is the Dutch national champion in this age group and he’s there in gate number one certainly looking forward to seeing what Thomas Matano and Jordan Callum can pull out of the bag in this particular heat peepers Far and Matarano are all on the inside in this first Y final for the men under 23 as they head to Aran towards that first turn looks like Far is going to pick up the whole shot where is Casper Peepers he’s uh not in there I don’t think at the moment we’ve got uh Lucas Mu going through and Peepers is at the back of battling hard it looks like his race might already be over it’s Tim Goo in there in that second spot jordan Caliban there in three zachary Neil out of France going through in four and it’s all getting mixed up on that third straight but Matteo Farre is going to bring it to the line gusen is going to go through in two who’s going to pick up that three and four where is Thomas Matarano has he made it through i think it was a photo finish but he’s definitely inside the top four photo finish between Neil and Matano there matano last season when we saw him racing he really sort of had that breakthrough he he really came he didn’t come good he he came amazing he came he really really came to the four i mean he showed us what he can do and and we expected that previously are we going to see him build is he going to build throughout the course of the racing today and and pull out something even more special closer to those finals yeah I think he will thomas Batarano out of Argentina we know that the South American riders are famed for being able to make moves in turns and to keep that racing exciting and we’re expecting more of that from Thomas Batano as we move through the rounds so far along with Gusen’s Neil and Matana going through Delel Pipers Moose and Daller Jordan Callum not making it through and you can just see the applause of the crowds i suspect that’s Jordan Callum just making his way down to the line just looking down to the B below the stands i think he’s just he’s making his way in and along the track at the moment as he makes his way through we get ready for the second of our eighth finals and in the under 23 men’s competition because we’ve got such a packed entry we actually had 16th finals this time round um that is um it shows you the volume of riders wanting to race the World Cup oh yeah superb it’s so many riders and plenty of French riders obviously with it being a French round so yeah the numbers definitely go up but it just makes the racing that much better so you saw just a few seconds ago Callum there just hobbling his way back down taking that for something that all of our riders are used to nobody wants to do it but it is almost inevitable if you’re going to push it to the limits the riders up on the top of this 8 m gate introduced to the track here back in 2023 heat number two our riders on the gate all ready to go 82 82 of these 18 finals featuring Jason Nordam aka the cricket he’s going to lead it into turn number one where is the world champion Pedro Benel Salazar he’s in that third spot at the moment it looks like the Swedish rider Vincent Mullen is holding on to that second spot so he’s going well as they enter turn number two but it is Jason Nordam out in front mullen in two benel Cazar in three and Seal Nunist holding on to that fourth spot as they approach the final turn but Nordam bringing it down towards the line he’s out in front he’s got himself about five or six bike lengths he’s going to take the win in this 18 final fourth place being picked up by Seal Nunist out of Switzerland a great lap for him and a big dive underneath there on turn number two coming in from what was fifth place into fourth place big big move but it really it leaves people with very little time to counter that yeah if if you do that in two rather than one yeah turns are quite wide here so it uh yeah it makes it a little bit easy for people to go underneath but you’ve got to be able to make those moves pretty quickly if you want to make it through to the next round so the official results in front of you at the moment with Nordam Mullen along with Benazar and Noneless the riders going through KF Melis Sweeney and Boam out of the competition as our next set of riders are lined up in the gate lethal along with Giani and Jean De France Grinick and Hbert yeah got Zan Le in this one one of the rising stars of the French under 23 class seen plenty of him in the European Cup Series over the years and he’s making his move up now towards the championship classes legal there is Marcus Le of Denmark on the inside of course we go to Denmark for the World Championships in July out in Copenhagen and the BMX community worldwide looking forward to that so it’s Lem Jupil the three riders on the inside in this third white final as they head towards that first turn and Marcus left picking up the whole shot oh one two riders going over the turn so the lap already over as left leads it into the corner let’s have a look who’s going to be stacked up behind him just searching for those spots zean lame in there in third def France in that second spot and boy Zan in that final qualifying position but Marcus Le out of Denmark he’s bringing it down towards the line zean Le looking safe inside that third spot as they go towards the stripe he’s going to make it through def France makes it in as well but Baptist Shupil he’ll be disappointed with the fifth place and that turn there just you could see that coming and buildings came and it went higher and higher and higher then went over the top fortunately the runoff nice and safe on the way through so no problems from the riders in terms of safety but takes them out of context takes them out of today’s racing here at Sion in France and then their next chance is going to be at round number two same venue but going to be a little bit later on that’s going to be on Sunday so left def France L as well as Jani going through and Shapil Garunik and Jean out of the competition yep certainly getting stacked in that first turn obviously you can’t uh give any quarter in that corner otherwise your lap will be over you’ll just lose all of your momentum alexis Pinowski though lining up in this one skurs couples Lang Dunan Russo Dona and Federico Capello out of Argentina so certainly some very talented riders up and coming in this under 23 class and they are lined up in the fourth 18 final as the gate drops we see Alexis Picanowski the European champion in the under 23 category he is going to lead it into that first turn mikan getting involved as well for the Dutch army he’s in there in that fourth spot and getting a bit of pressure put on him by the rider out of Germany that’s going to be Scurspec as they go into that turn scurs making his move and I think he’s worked his way up into two russo’s in there as well mika Lang’s getting shuffled back now he’s there in about six but out in front the European champion Alexis Pinowski he’s certainly got this one it’s a battle for the two three and four it’s just a case of who’s going to get in the line mikang looking like he’s going to go out dona Dunand and Louison Russo rounding out the top four little bit of a shot with Capello going out in five and that’s not what we were expecting capella was right in the mix there as they came in through wasn’t he we that fourth fifth position was was changing it looked like it could go and Capello not making it through and that’s not what we were expecting at this stage no certainly a little bit of disappointment for him and Alexis Picinowski though certainly looking in superb form as they came down through that third straight scerspec was uh all up in the mix in there and Mika Lang just lost all his momentum through that third straight and that’s completely cost him he’s gone out at this 18 final stage but Picinowski taking the win looking good for the quarterfinals looking very good he was clearly in a rush to get through and get himself back out off the track there goes through 32.071 071 his time three of a second ahead of second place Dona with Vinn Dant and Russo going through there are your four qualifiers with the official queue next to them as we move across now into the second half of our eighth finals this will be heat number five yeah you got Matis Jac out there in gate number eight for France pio on the inside Dylan Tremble in there for Canada and Sephilin for Belgium gate drops riders heading down the hill pio’s not getting the start that he wanted and coming across from the outside i’ve got a feeling that’s Matty Jac who’s going to lead it in and out of the corner hartman in there in two line and in three and one fan in there as well for France oh it looks like the rider out in front has made a slight mistake so can he hold on to his momentum shaka yes he has albert Garpo in there in that third spot the crowd are going well so there’s clearly a French rider battling for a top four position but as they come towards the line it is going to be Matty Jac taking the win who’s got that four spot hartman Grappo Tom Fanhen going through in fourth pier out in five and that just proves how crucial the start is and that first turn I mean all the riders they were packed together coming into turn one and came around that turn and you just saw Dylan Dremel just be pushed up high there just go right up on the line he managed to hold it on the track and lost all his momentum in trying to recover and not the only one doing that either i mean it really was a really really tricky uh eighth final here as come round going into this first turn they are so packed yeah Mati Shake coming across from the outside gate number eight so certainly uh he’s peing for this particular race and it all got mixed up as he came through that third straight se and he was in a qualifying position coming out of turn number one and ended up finishing in seventh and Finn Kogan there not going through either he’s the Ronda limping his way back down so a real fight as it came through jac Hartman going through along with Gro and Juan Van your riders through from heat five heat six joshua Jolly along with Ezlair Jesse Asmus Arthur Berettin Monard Digan Brown Jos Manum Renato Silva and Lan Lev going to be taken to the start all ready to go joshua Jolly Enzo L Clerk and Jesse Aszmus heading down that hill jesse Asmus won his very first World Cup in the under 23 category in Brisbane in 2024 so he knows what it takes to win at this particular stage we’re looking for Jos Manam out of Great Britain he was on the inside as they went into that corner and he’s been shuffled back saw a mistake being made down that second straight it’s Jolly Asmos the Clerk degan Brown of the USA looking like he’s in that fourth spot joshua Jolly making a move on Asmus in that corner it’s going to be an Australian one two joshua Jolly jesse Asmus going to the line i think they’re going to pick up the one and two l Cler for the three brown in there in four jos Mamm not getting the results he wanted mistakes being made down that second straight but Joshua Jolly looking in really great form here i’m really to see Jesse Asmus on there taking podiums last year and finishing off third in the season overall uh good move to see him right back on it straight away down there on the move but Joshua Jolly was looking good yeah won the Junior World Championship in Rock Hill in 2024 and he’s already had a win in the USA VMX Pro Series out in Bakersfield California so he knows what it takes to get it done at the highest level and certainly he’s looking very good right now so Jolly Azlair and Brown your riders going through from heat number six the official results in front of you right now as we’re going to move on to heat number seven our penultimate heat in our eighth finals in under 23 men’s bring you the eighth and quarterfinals here from Sion round number one of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup for 2025 yeah got Joel Marsh Matis lining up in this one james Cuts Williams for the USA he’s a man to keep your eye on jesper Valberg out of Sweden moving up into this category for the first time so this is going to be a great lap as we see James cutter Williams of the USA on that 505 plate looking like he’s got a great start and he’s going to head into that first turn right alongside Joe Marshall marshall Williams going one and two lou in three where is Jesper jesper Valberg of SW Sweden in there in that fourth spot but I think he’s made a mistake through that section as well it might have just cost him or has he held on to it yes he has he’s still there in that fourth spot martian Williams looking good hoffer of Switzerland in there in third as they go around that final turn and if anybody’s going to make a move it would have had to have been there so looks like Valberg is going to go through in that fourth spot jaw Marsh taking the win cutter Williams in there in two hoffer three valberg in four but certainly Joel Marsh and James Cutter Williams looking good in that particular heat and Marsh on that first turn he came in quite low then swept all the way to the Y line at the outside of the bend on the exit of the bend there on that first turn he he made that his he shut the door really slammed it in everybody’s face no way anyone was going to go through there he did very much so valberg you know worked his way across from gate number eight and got himself into a top four position as they came out of it that’s superb riding from him meanwhile Marsh was taking it from cutter Williams hoffer Valberg a great lap for him in there to make the top four and you can see Matthew L the rider disappointed with his head down has came in over the line he along with Fizer in Bay and De Laega not making it through into our quarterfinal so onto our very last eighth final in our men’s under 23 competition yeah clement Rasheru a rising star of the French BMX he’s in there in gate number one radelli former junior world champion in gate two and Kip Stfaser he took his first World Cup win here in Sarons in 20123 he’s in there in gate three so he’s certainly got good memories of this track as the gate drops on the last of the eight finals for men under 23 looks like the rider on the inside clement Rasheroo’s got an absolute flyer radelli oh one rider’s diving underneath i’ve got think that was Cuchi out of Japan one riders exited on the wrong side of the track but Rasheru still out in front as they head towards that turn and it looks like Style Fasher I think is in there in that second spot lang Manis trying to work his way in as well as they head towards that final corner but Cle Rosheru of France he’ll be keeping the Horn fans happy he’s going to take this one by a considerable distance works his way across the line to take the win clemon Rasheru going through Lang Manis in two shidoba Bushamp working it in and Kip Stalaser he was the winner here in 2023 and he’s out in the eight finals very interesting there riders disappearing off two riders off the track ridge there and clearly losing all momentum and going to be coming out of the uh uh out of the resorts not making it through and you could just see as he came around this turn he went wide and you can just see diving the wrong side of the post there uh for them race over yeah that was Radielli he was in a good position as well as he came down that first straight he’ll be bitterly disappointed with that result meanwhile Clement Rasheroo rolling across the line 10 bike lengths in front he’ll be looking for a podium here at Sarans and Radi was was keeping us entertained in our semi-finals last year and and the year before really looking a fantastic rider but not to be today your final qualifiers in the men’s under 23 eighth finals rosheru Lang Manis going through along with Shadoba and Bocom so we’re going to go across now as you can see Nate Seers already lined up in the gates here h yeah moving on to the Many Elite 18 finals ross Cullen in gate number one he set the fastest lap of the day so far and he’s there on the inside certainly Ross Cullen’s got some competition here with Cameron Wood of the USA he is the USA BMX Pro Series champion and goes into that corner in second spot behind Ross Cullen jacob Sardak and Roman Rasine getting involved as well and Chris Alden of France is going to be trying to keep the home fans happy as they go in and out of turn number two ross Cullen looking very good right now he’s trained so hard through the winter and pushed through and raced all the European Cup series and raced the French Cup here last weekend he’s certainly made that experience pay he’s going to take the win cameron Wood in there in two who’s going to pick up the three and the four as they cross the line chris Alden going through in three roman Rasine in four philip Sha out in five but Ross Cullen is looking very very good fast start from him as well getting the fastest time down out of the gate and 2.499 499 just ahead of Cameron Wood the nearest rider to him swiftly followed by I think that was going to be S but he couldn’t make it stick as we came through ended up in sixth place but Cullen looking absolutely furious down here yeah he’s looking superb he’s increased his lap time as well from round number one which is something you’d expect anyway but certainly when your lap times are getting lower and lower it’s a sure sign that you’re in good form so getting it nailed getting it dialed making sure he’s getting those tires down ross Cullen taking the win there in our first men’s elite eighth finals cullen from Wood Alden and seen the four riders that go through and on into the quarterfinals on to heat number two i know this is one that’s it’s going to be very exciting indeed because we’ve got Oliver Moran in this second in the series last year uh we’ve got your Dod in here Jamie O’Bri uh this could be a a really interesting fight for that sort of fourth fifth position yeah there’s certainly a few riders who could be in it and we’re about to find out who they are and heading down towards turn one yurus Dod just getting shuffled back a little bit he was in third he’s dived underneath worked his way into that second spot jamie Brink right there with him and Dod bringing that experience to the four just kept calm as he came out of that first turn worked his way back from third to first you’ll hear the French fans going absolutely wild for the Olympic and world champion as he goes in and out of that final turn looking almost casual as he comes down towards the line yuris D taking the win jamie Obrink in there in that second spot anna is still in three oliver Moran going through in fourth but certainly Yoris Day so much experience and so much ability to make it pay absolutely nailed it on the way through there good moves though by Jamie Obrink making his way up and through as well molina the rider that came down looked like I think he clipped the wheel on this way down and through so Molina not making his way in and through to those quarterfinals and you can just see all sorts of sideways as he goes down tries to hold it but doesn’t keep it together goes across the line finally but in last place [Music] as we look at the riders lining up including Quillin Isidor of Great Britain who is in eighth final number three there are your results dod Brink is still a Morana going through to the quarterfinals [Music] number three of these 18 finals also featuring Bod Turner of Australia always good to see Bony on track silven Andre Olympic silver medalist right there in gate number four but he’s got Mattis Rago Rishard Lori Sabahard and Philip Steiner to deal with as well as we get the close up of Quillin Isidor leaving the gate oh it’s not gone quite the way he wanted as they head towards turn one looks like Silan Andre is going to pick up that whole shot yes he is lori Sabahard Philip Steiner in there as well that looks like an Australian jersey in there in three that’ll be Bodhi Turner who’s in that third spot who’s got the fourth it’s Mattis Orgo Rishard in that final qualifying position but under pressure from one of the Swiss riders as they go towards that final turn but certainly no doubt oh Turners hit the deck the Australians race is over andre goes through and takes the win abah in two matis Rago reard in three quill and Isidor after the start of disaster has worked his way into a top four spot but I’d love to see what happened to Bodhi Turner in that final turn absolutely he went from third place down onto the deck and Quill and Isizador one person’s bad local or misfortune is another rider’s fortune in going through cuz it wasn’t nailed on that he was going to go through on the way through and you could just see Turner it just was really unusual when he hit the deck there yeah just having a look it looks like the back end got away from him and he just literally just came around and that was enough to put him on the floor it must have caused all kinds of problems behind because that allowed Quillis at all to come through and h take that fourth spot bodi Turner definitely a fan favorite acknowledging the crowd here in Sarons we’ve still got a rider down in that turn that’s going to be Philip Steiner picking himself up holding that arm let’s hope he’s okay for round number two of the 2025 World Cup Series and the way that Bodie Turner is wheeling that bike off I’m just wondering if he had a blowout possibly just taking a look it’s not looking super flat to me but he he certainly lost all grip and all traction there then he went sideways um we will no doubt get to find out on social media don’t forget jump on board social media uh follow the riders give them your support uh because it is really important to the riders more followers that they have the more they’re and the higher the profile that they have uh the more value they have to their sponsors and of course sponsors enable our riders to go out and around the globe just waiting for our results to come in just taking a look up to the top of the hill for uh our fourth of our eighth finals the results in though Silven Andre going through ahead of Loris Ebahard Matthew Rogo Arisha going through with Quillin Isidor Turner not going through Steiner as we’ve seen just making his way off the track as well as the riders make their way down to the line rankerella Marias Hail Pil along with Garion and Go yet this one absolutely stacked as they uh get themselves onto the gates jeremy Renarell right in there on the inside with Hugo Marzle right next to him as they head towards turn number one but coming across from the outside i’ve got a feeling that might have been Leo Gadan just taking the whole shot where is Michael Bayas he’s back there in about five at the moment renarel pushing hard in that second position as they enter the second turn so it’s a French one two at the moment gayanne Renarel High in there in three bias coming through he’s uh just recovered from a fracture tibious he’s certainly pushing hard in this one as they go towards the line it’s going to be a French one too it’s going to be Garion and Renarel making it in has Michael Bayas made it in yes he has he’s in there in four stephan H in three marzle’s going to be disappointed with that five but certainly the French looking in good form here in Sions 700s of a second separating fourth and fifth places as went in through and over the line at the finish there a relatively straightforward round yeah Michael Bayas certainly had to dive low in that turn and make his moves down that straight to pick up that fourth spot meanwhile Garan and Ren Carell out there in front one and two stephen Hile a relatively uneventful lap in three he’s made it through to the next round so as the sun continues to shine down here in Sion we have the results of the heat for in the men’s eighth finals gar regal hail and bias going in and through and lastly go and pard not making it in through they’ll be back once again as we go into round number two now they’ll be I’m sure watching and seeing how the racing continues onwards as we move across now to heat number five the fifth of our eighth finals in the men’s elite yep eddie Clerte Cedric Bouty they’re in gates one and two as heat number five of the 18 finals heads down the hill it looks like Eddie Clerte on the inside he’s going to lead it into the turn i’ve got a feeling there’s been some action on that first straight as well molina inside the top four is he going to get shuffled back into five yes he is but we know that he’s more than capable of making fantastic moves in those corners it’s Cl Len Booty Suarez that is your 1 2 3 4 into the final turn eddie Clare familiar on that 815 out front and in control he’s going to get one that looks like Cameron Larson is he going to hold on for the two oh it’s going to be very close at the line clirt Beauty and Larson photo finish suarez in there as well no turn action from Molina unfortunately and it was Kalixto Lopez I think who went down in that first corner so our riders in of the line very quickly time to get that helmet off to get those legs turning make sure they get the lactic acid out of the legs ready as they progress in and through yep just checking out the replay oh it all got mixed up and I think it might have been Gil Bronner who hit that deck on that first straight as they look at the shot of them going into that turn eddie Clare was out in front from start to finish cameron Lson and Cedric Booty battling for that second spot beauty gets it from Larsson Suarez in there in four and Molina he’s going to have to come back in round two yeah running going through finishing 51 seconds down in the end to Eddie Glerty the winner of heat number five glerty booty Len Suarez going through molina not able to find a way through along with Kalista and Brunner as we said the rider who came uncluttoned hit the deck a real mix up on the way on that first straight you got to get through now this is where it gets very very loud down in Serion because we have got Rome Mayu here uh a home track for him it’s where he spends his entirety pretty much of the summer when he’s not racing is his practice ground u he’s a big big favorite down here with everybody pretty much yeah rame the crowd favorite went out of the quarterfinal stage here in 2023 and he’s certainly going to improve on that one as we go into turn number one and picks up the whole shot so the crowd are about to get loud for Roma May Marcos in there in two that looks like Rico Bman in three as they head into that corner he’s just going to get shuffled back that little bit the New Zealand National Champion looks like he’s been shuffled back into five he’s got Lucas Webster to deal with as they go towards the final corner but Roman Mayu of France is going to lead it down there and it looks like Marcos of Spenu’s in there in that second spot roman Mayu taking the win he’s gone through marcos in two webster in three bman has got himself back into four but Roman Mayu giving the crowd what they came for and how much advantage Rich is it knowing every speck of dirt on this track and every little change of camber yeah certainly if you’re at a World Cup and you know this track like the back of your hand like Roman Mayu does it’s his home track he trains here all the time it’s just going to be like a comfort zone for him and he’s he’s certainly you know he’s put the work in he’s so fast you know you don’t make an Olympic final and win world championships unless you are comfortable if you put the work in and that’s exactly what Roman May was done absolutely flying across there taking away the win roman Mayu the winner ahead of Garcia Marcos Webster and Berman the riders going through rico Bman making it in through to the quarterfinals a rider who was under 23 was absolutely on former and flying i mean he was almost unstoppable a couple of years ago making that transition now too early and it is always that big step up yeah it is a difficult step up to make as we look at heat number seven and the 179 right there on the inside simon Markart of Switzerland the only rider to make every main event in 2024 in the Elite Men class so Marart on the inside but he’s got the World Cup champion eyes at Kennedy of Australia right there next to him and as I mentioned his name he goes out in front and takes the whole shot we’ve got Anthony Bicardo of the USA he’s in there in three he’s had such a story career come back from major injuries and he’s there in that third spot here in this eighth final mode drew Pulkin is Mitchell Shotman going through as well doing it for the Netherlands as they head towards that final corner but out in front Isaac Kennedy Simon Marart you’d expect them to be one and two and that’s exactly where they are shopman’s going to get the three drew Pulk’s going to pick up the four going through Blanc in five be interested to know what happened to Anthony Bicardo but certainly no such problems for Isaac Kennedy and Simon Marart and Australia really so dominant in that 2024 season they’re the only nation who took a top spot into double figures so actually took 13 top spots in the World Cup of 2024 the highest nation’s total after that was two and it shows you the dominance of Australia across so many of those race categories 29 podiums uh in the course of what was basically six rounds last year and Kennedy here just dialing it absolutely no problems no problems whatsoever good to see Mitchell Shotman in there in third and Drew Pulk going through in fourth moving his way down and out of camera shot there as we’re going to get ready to go on from heat seven where we saw Kennedy Mark and Shopman go through along with Drew Pulk and we’re going to move across into the eighth and final eighth final oddly enough that’s for our men’s elite already down out the gates getting ready to to be brought up by our race officials and start officials on the top of the hill there yep i’m just looking at Dieago Arbala of Colombia in his Continental Champions jersey got Arthur Pard in this one as well he took the win here at the French Cup just the weekend before this race here in Sarons so Diego Arbala heading down towards that first turn looks like P’s been shuffled back that little bit but he’ll just have enough to dive underneath and work his way into a top four spot so that experience coming to the four julian Schmidt in there as well but Diego Arbala of Colombia out in front carmona Garcia is countryman in two pard in three schmidt in there in four but Arvala leading it in and out of the turn pard’s looking safe in that third spot who’s going to get the fourth as they come across across the line the top three definitely safe arbala takes it garcia in two pard in three schmidt in four katishev unlucky to go out in five for Arbala taking the win 11th00 of a second separating fifth and fourth place there going through the front three though well and truly clear as they came in through over the line there great start there for Arbor later but once he was up there he had to hold that behind the second and third it almost like they put the battle aside and just went let’s get let’s just get there we’re we’re relatively safe yeah I’m sure the Colombian fans were just hoping that the riders were going to hold on for one and two nothing silly pardi did 12 laps of the track just last weekend here in Sions it certainly doesn’t look like it with that strong third place well the track 415 m if I remember correctly each time around there so get the kilometers in on the track that’s probably plus all of the practice laps and the warm-up laps as well last four qualifiers going through in the eight finals in the men’s elite here at the first round of UCI BMX Racing World Cup it’s Albera Carmon Garcia Pillard and Schmidt who go through to our quarter finals amen riders looking very very much like going to form Rich and and not too many surprises in there uh not too much no the lap time is definitely starting to come down silvan Andre has now moved to the top of the standings as it were for those fastest laps as your result for heat 8 just appears on screen and confirming that Diego Abela took that win you can just see the mountains in the background that’s actually the foothills of Mont Vontu legendary mountain climbed by the to France to France due to start very shortly on the road the BMX very very busy the whole of France of course engaged in the mountain bike as all part of those disciplines covered by the UCI the Union clist international the governing body for cycle sport out and around the globe as the heat continues to build here in Serion bridge some fantastic racing on the the track here home advantage for for Roman Mayu basically is home track but S Kakibar who we’re seeing on screen at the moment again she spends pretty much half the season here when she’s not racing yeah absolutely calls this a training grounder you know alongside Roma and uh SAS Kakibar you know she puts some great edits out on YouTube as well so if you get the chance to check out Sia’s YouTube channel you’ll see some really good behindthescenes footage of what it takes to be an elite BMXer and certainly Sia does a great job of that and I always enjoy watching it so uh yeah feel free to check that one out on YouTube if you get the time so we have had our eighth finals go through we’re going to move on to our quarterfinals so this is going to cover our under 23 men’s and women’s and it’ll cover the elite men’s and women’s when that’s complete and then there’ll be a little bit of a break before racing continues onwards and we then move on to the riders who have made it through into the semi-finals and into the finals now Rich in terms of overall in the the the world BMX scene I I know you’ve had plenty of sleepless nights probably even more than I have in terms of watching racing the season so far i mean the the the United States had a very very busy start to the season i know um that’s been absolutely man there’s lots of ways people can keep up with the action though you don’t have to be a night owl and watch all the late night feeds you can listen to this there’s some great podcasts out there and there’s great feeds that you just mentioned YouTube for sayar there great way to keep up with what the riders are up to as well outside of the racing yeah certainly social media like Instagram and that kind of thing would be your number one spot to find out what’s going on with these riders but um yeah they do a great job they they try and you know keep their sponsors out in the spotlight as we look at Tay Rufus just lining herself up there and getting ready there’s there’s there’s plenty of ways to keep up with the racing so yeah the UCI website will you know keep you up to date with all the standings of this World Cup season as we go through there’s plenty to check out and for the younger riders is that something that comes more naturally than to say the more mature riders uh I’m looking across the studio here Richard neither of us could be considered spring chickens these days um we’ve got the scars to prove we’ve been old enough to fall off plenty of times before but we didn’t have to cover it we didn’t have to put the pictures out there we didn’t have that extra pressure do you think it’s it’s a good thing can you still be a great rider just by turning your legs around and letting your legs do the talking or do you actually now to be a pro have to engage with social media and get that extra profile i think it’s important to have a really good social media profile but there’s nothing that’ll outdo training and putting the working on the track i like to hear that you said all the right things there Rich thank you very much uh let’s see who’s going to be up there here as we start to see our riders lining their way up onto the uh progate there just making sure they’re readed ready for race start all right Michelle Vissing looking to make uh some moves down that first straight as we lose three riders on the start hill so Michelle Vissing looking to repeat a win from here in 2023 and this is the right way to go about it being out in front in that quarterfinal so there’s three riders up one rider is going to make it through and it’s whoever picks themselves up first off the floor on that first straight and makes it all the way around it’s going to be a while before we find out who it is but there is a rider heading down that straight meanwhile strung out like an accordion as they go in and out of that final turn certainly Michelle Vissing is going to take the win here in the first of the quarterfinals for the women under 23 french rider going through that’s going to be Laura Muj in there in two feder of the USA in there in that third spot who’s going to pick up the fourth as they come towards the line looks like it’s going to be Darren Mertton I think of the USA who goes through in that fourth spot all the action going down on that first straight it got pretty tasty rich what happened i mean that was a real blink and you miss it it’s so early on coming down in the racing there let’s take another look at that yeah it looks like they came out maybe there was an elbow that touched between riders in one and two the bike went sideways collected the rider to the right meanwhile Vissing was leading it into the corner with Laura Muj as well and it’s a good opportunity when you’ve got some space to play with you can just ease off the throttle that tiny little bit and just conserve some energy for the later rounds not that I think the riders would be consciously thinking that on the way uh you know through in a quarterfinal but you know if you’re smart enough to take that little bit of notice then that’s something that you can possibly do as the track officials here and the track team make sure that the course is back and it’s all okay before we start racing once again the damage done to the track by the crashes it’s it’s generally more you’re not going to see that on the Ashalt turn you see it more on the way as you go through the gravel sections on on the the looser sections not so often that we see riders come down coming out of the gate it’s pretty rare isn’t it that we see an incident like that and probably going to not see too much damage on that that that start slow no no it’ be absolutely fine there’ll be no problems at all and a quick sweep and a brush from the uh you know the officials and the track will be back to you know full strength again as we look at the results there Michelle Ving Lauru Rita Federa all going through it’s time to move across from the first of our uh quarterfinals into quarterfinal number two yeah this one features Alexis Holden of the USA and Franchesca Singleani as they head into that turn and it looks Oh Ryder going down on that first straight lily Green off picking up the whole shot though alina back in fourth alexis Alden in two and it looks like Sabina Corsova is in that second position so Kosakova being pursued by Beck as they go in and out of the corner but it’s Lily Greenoff of New Zealand who is out in front i’ve got a feeling that’s Alexis Holden in that fourth spot as they go towards the final turn greenoff Corsova Beck and Olden i think that is going to be a one two three four as they cross that line is that going to be confirmed yes it is green off Corsova Beck and Old and Garcia in there in five so I’ve got a feeling it was Singalani who hit the deck on that first straight yeah Francesca Singleani for area hitting the floor on the way through just not making it through into turn number one we’ll take a look back from the gate here fast start you can see a single getting a good start down there on the left hand side but super tight not going to see a shot because it’s so early on meanwhile out of the front Lily Greenoff looking very good good ride there by Sabina Corsova to push it all the way to the line yeah it was very very close lily Green off you know taking the win in the eighth taking the win in the quarter we like to see that kind kind of consistency and that consistency keeps you in those prize spots getting those gate picks on the way through as we get those results confirmed and singleani crossing line in the end 1 minute 14 down shows you how much time that it took to pick us back up again so that’s the second of our quarterfinals done and dusted with green of course along with Beck and Alden going through next up it is the third of our quarterfinals and it’s a pretty packed field in this one yeah definitely Emily Hut and Sienna Harvey doing it for Great Britain in this one and Renco Van Samfort she’s already been on the podium on this track in 2023 she’ll be looking to repeat on that iette Deard in there Alexandra Shimoskina in the neutral athlete as well so an interesting lap coming up but the Great Britain fans will have their eye on gate number one and gate number six and the national championship stripes across the back there the two different GBR kits there denoting the red white and blue so denoting the national champion there on the inside yeah it’s the national champion of Great Britain Emily Halt in there in gate number one exactly what you think she’d beat just as they go into that turn where is Sienna Harvey she’s in there in three so it’s looking good for the Great Britain riders at the moment as they go in and out of that turn certainly Emily Hut out front and in control i’ve got a feeling that’s Iet Dav I think in there in that second position out of the Netherlands yes it is Kylie Bish of America in there in through Shimoskina in four battling away where is Sienna Harvey she’s got it all to do at the moment as they go in and out of the final turn emily F out front in control iette Devon in there in two who’s going to pick up the three who’s going to pick up the four van Sanford I think has made it in in that third spot yes she did kylie Shay in four disappointment for Sienna Harvey of Great Britain and Kylie Shay of the USA coming through going through as well so your first four going through emily on the front there picking up speed not the fastest out of the gate but very much a case of building speed very quickly once you got onto that first straight yeah definitely if you’ve got an inside line going into turn number one obviously it’s going to be an advantage as we see the riders leave the gates i’ll be interested to see what happened to Sienna Harvey during this lap she came across right from the outside and she was in there or thereabouts as they went into the turn little tap of elbows with Iette Devard as they came out of that first turn but it wasn’t enough she ended up in sixth meanwhile Emily Hut taking the win van Samfort coming through as well and Shimuskina out in five so just waiting for those confirm results here they come emily Hut taking the win ahead of D’Voran Sanfort and Share your four qualifiers through in our penultimate quarterfinal in the women’s under 23 competition here at round one of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Sion in the southeast of France our final quarterfinal the last chance to get into the semifinals these are our riders battling for those four positions yeah we got the world champion Veronica Sterisa in this one nishimura of Japan took her tumble earlier on it’d be good to see her back on the gates uh there’s the riders lineup looks like Veronica Scrisa lining herself up to the outside marie Favll on the inside with her compatriate Clara Rou in gate number two fell on the inside stiscer has opted for the outside and she’s going to make her move across and she’s just tucking in behind the French rider as they head in and out of turn number one dominica Cado in there as well in that third spot and Dominica Manikova in four so as they head towards turn number two it’s France and Latvia leading it in marie Favll and Veronica Stissa Cordderero in three manikova in four for a rail putting together a very controlled and focused lap as they go in and out of the final turn strisa looking safe in that second spot is Manikova going to come under pressure as they come towards the line is she going to hold on for that four spot i think she is strisiska takes it from Vavller and Manikova that is your top four claraara Rouer was pushing hard from five but couldn’t make it stick and Stris Strisco came back there as we came around that last turn she came onto the last of those tracks but she really worked it through that section there generating momentum generating speed coming through and she really propelled her through to take away the win here great ride by her and coming from the outside in showing that she can go from anywhere pretty much i don’t think she’s worried where she starts pretty much no I think as we go through into the later round she’ll be certainly looking towards the inside more than an outside pick but uh as h they came out of that final corner marie Favlla out in front i think the riders in one and two knew that they were safely just conserving that tiny little bit of energy as they come across the line strisiska just pointing the bike just through just taking the win carrying momentum driving through those extra few pedal strokes at the start and the end of that straight really making just that little bit of difference that saw her go through two ten of a second ahead strisco taking the win in the last of the women’s under23 quarterfinals ahead of Favll and then Marco Dera and Monaco with the final qualifiers to go through into a women’s under 23 semifinals the women’s under 23 competition are going to move to one side as we get ready to move across riders already up on the top of the hill ready yeah we’re looking at the first quarterfinal for the women elite saias Kakibara the World Cup and Olympic champion right there on the inside she’s got Augustina Canavali Melie Kel Merrill Schmalders Camil Sienna Pal and Yarislava Bondenko all next to her on the gates quarterfinal number one for the women elite so the women elite quarterfinals are underway and as you would expect Sasakiara of Australia is going to lead it into that first turn that looks like Mely Kelrop of Denmark in there in two smolders in three Camil in four so the Olympic champion showing exactly why she won that gold medal in Paris she’s out there in front mailing Kellup’s having a great lap at the moment she’s in there into Merrill Smolders in that third position and as they go in and out of the final turn who’s got that fourth spot as they head down towards the line it’s looking like Sienna Pal I think who’s going to pick up that fourth place it’s going to be Sakibara taking the win kelstro smolders pal that’s going to be a 1 2 3 4 augustina Cavali in five but Sci Kakibara she knows every inch of this track and doesn’t it just show where she came through and she had an absolutely blisteringly quick start there but there was a I’m not sure whether it was a shake of a head or a real exaggerated look over her shoulder to see if anybody was with her and there wasn’t there and she seemed almost to just come off the pace it allowed the the rest to come back up is that just her knowing this track so well she can just be super confident cuz this start it just took us straight into the lead maybe she just wanted a you know a quick idea of who was there right next to as they came out of the turn but it was Mlin Kellup of Denmark who was in that second spot with Merrill Smolders of the Netherlands in three meanwhile Sienna Pal trying to get as close as she could to Merrill couldn’t quite get it but she still hung on for that fourth position and there is Sia just taking the lactic acid out of those legs yeah fastest lap sorry Rich 33.95 uh the fastest time that she’s put in so far at 35.048 the time in this the first of our women’s elite quarterfinals with Sekar taking the win ahead of Kelro Smolders and Pal there the riders going through’ll be making their way into our semifinals now in with our elite women into the second of our quarterfinals this is going to be a very interesting race isn’t it Rich yeah certainly featuring former Olympic champion and world champion Bethany Shrivever of Great Britain so unfortunately no sign of Talia Berford in this particular quarterfinal bethany Shrivever on the inside but she’s got the two Americans to deal with delaney Vaughn and Peyton Ry and they’re going to go one and two in and out of the turn oh it just sounds like a riders hit the deck in that first corner bethany Shwver got shuffled back a little bit she’s going to have to work her way through the pack and into a top four position delaney Vaughn’s had her problems as well she’s back there in about five pressure coming though now from Leila Walker on Bethany Shrivever shrivever on the uh right on the cusp of going out is she going to be able to hold on to that four spot she’s chasing down Axel Etien who’s in there in three looks like as they go across the line the win’s going to be taken by Berford Ryenor Etienne Walker and Shrever photo finish so we await confirmation will the former Olympic champion will the world champion go for world champion i mean Bethy Shrivever absolute on fire a couple of seasons ago not looking like she’s on that same kind of form we saw her just maybe not quite so hot back end of last season now not having didn’t wearing the British Champions jersey though very interesting to see she goes in here she’s down into fifth place she moves up into fourth and I think it was going to be uh Pton R who’s pushing her to the line there just going to take a little bit of a double check there yeah it was Talia Ber taking the win even though I had her dad as DNS on the screen in front of me but certainly she got in there she took the win she did what she needed to do just waiting to find out whether Bethany Shiva has made it through and it looks like she hasn’t so Bethany Shrivever out in five in these quarterfinals just pipped by a fraction by Leila Walker aten going through into Payton Ryenau as well and Bethany Shrivever disappointment in round one of the 2025 World Cup season less than 400s of a second the difference between going through in fourth and fifth place is there Aika Gomez not the start to the season that she would want and it’s going to put the pressure on her for round number two and we have coming up on Sunday that’s going to be really interesting to see how she can respond from that cuz Ako uh a very experienced rider rider who we we know is surrounded by lots of great riders as well so hopefully we’ll see her back in gear at the next round now moving on to the second half of our quarterfinals going into heat three Laura Smolders Manra Munoz had armor along with Sheepas and Williams yep certainly some experience in this one and no more experience than Loris Moulders and as we mentioned her name there is Laura Smolders on the inside but she’s got uh Man on Vinstra the Olympic silver medalist right there with her as they go in and out of turn number one so it’s going to be Smolders and Venra in there in one and two vanagas in there in three megan Williams of New Zealand was in the fourth spot but I think she’s been shuffled back a little bit as they go down that straight but certainly Laura Smolders and Manra doing it for the Netherlands they are one and two at the moment sia Takyama of Japan good to see her back on track she’s in there in four but it’s Laura Smolders who’s going to lead it through to the line smolders is going to take that win the Olympic silver medalist man on Vinkra going to go through in two looks like a Saiakyama has picked up that fourth spot indust keepers going out in five attakyama there going through in fourth with Sheepers in fifth place but Schmas in the front pretty much untouchable there back on form back on front absolutely back on form and it’s difficult to believe that Loris Mullers raced her first Olympics in London in 2012 when she was 18 years old and here we are 13 years later and she’s still doing the business at the World Cup level it just shows you doesn’t it but we got we have got some riders coming and racing in what is their more senior years riders who retired and come back we were talking earlier on before the show about riders who come come back from being out of retirement and coming and racing again yeah absolutely vincent Pelawar being that rider and it’s always good to see Vincent on track so the last of our quarterfinals about to take to the gate and to decide the last four runs to go through to our semifinals first of all the results there with coming through a time 33.972 fast time from Laura Schmolders there that is going to be challenging because that is quick yep certainly is and I’m sure the speeds are only going to go up as we go through into the semi-finals and the finals so plenty more action to come as we move into the last of the quarterfinals for the women league molly Simpson Leah Bindon Zoe Glacons Tea Rufus up from the under 23 category carly Kane and Naen Abberard certainly this one uh a very even quarterfinal it’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out last of the quarterfinals for the women elite heading down the hill and it’s the under23 World Cup champion T Rufus who’s being shuffled back into that fifth spot as they go in and out of turn number one it’s Clayson Simpson Abahar Bindon that is your 1 two three and four as they got to that first turn and as they go towards turn number two oh Ryder hitting the deck as they go towards that second corner simpson and Clayson’s out in front leah Prindong in there in three and I’ve got a feeling that’s Na Neighborhard in four but Molly Simpson looking to put Daylight between herself and the rest of the pack doing it for Canada she’s going to bring it to the line simpson’s going to take that win clayson’s in there in two leah Bindon keeping the home fans happy in three and Naen Abberard in four so Simpson looking good 34.666 666 our second fastest time in those quarterfinals with the fastest time set by Loris M’s last time out in terms of the times for those quarterfinals and very quickly going to be getting herself ready to move into the semi-finals quarterfinals uh semi-finals make their way through and then eventually we end up those semi-finals that going to be really interesting once we go in there we’ve got some riders who we expected to be in not there we’ve got other riders clearly back on form simpsons looking good smolders also here in the women’s elite yeah Molly Simpson uh certainly giving a statement of intent there by winning that quarterfinal the Olympic bronze medal is Zoe Clayson’s in there in that second spot so she’s going to go through to the semifinals so just a slight pause with the riders up at the top of the hill at the moment as you can see Rod’s just coming down into the finish here yeah ta Rufus you know the under 23 a World Cup champion last year you know took four main event wins and she’s moved up into the elite class and from the highest of the highs to the lowest of the lows she’ll be checked over by our medics we’ll make sure she’s okay hopefully she’ll be back for round number two here at Sio i’m clearly really sore and we wish her well and fast recovery uh whatever the injuries finally diagnosed as Taylor Rivers comes in and through that is a bit of a dent to a rider who was really on form last year and really made a big impression yeah very much so as we see the official results Molly Simpson Zoe Clayson Leah Bindon and Nadard making it through into the semifinals checking out the men under 23 heading down the hill here as they head towards turn number one jason Nordam Jesse Asmus one and two in and out of the turn he’s getting very busy for the three and the four riders are going to have to fight for it one rider makes a mistake in that third spot didn’t quite catch who he was but Nordam and Asmos out front and in control asmus doing it for Australia won his first World Cup at Brisbane in 2024 nordam out front and in control though nordam as Bordian and uh L Clerk of France keeping the home fans happy easy going through in that fourth spot it’s all been mixed up down that final straight the clerk holds on to Dona in five cutter Williams in six bush in there in seven but Nord Dam and Asmus out front and away from the confusion keeps it clean keeps clear out at the front there fantastic racing and uh you could just see that they wanted to be out of trouble there’s a lot of riders get tangled up in the earlier stages keeping it clean keep clear keep out of trouble save it all for the final if you can it’s a great way to go and you can just see I mean the front two the gap bike is huge yeah and it goes to show why gate picks so important the two riders on the inside going into turn one with the shortest distance to Coba they were the two out front out of trouble meanwhile all the craziness was going on behind the clerk came through in that fourth spot and yeah the Fran the French getting two riders in through to those semi-finals so Nordom Asmus B Jean and Lllair the riders going through Dona Williams and Brown the riders not making it through i think it was Deacon Brown hit the deck there on the way through but making it in and through the line and confirmed in fact on your screen as we speak so that is the first of our quarterfinals in the men’s under 23 competition next up Elasis Padowski looking very very good in his heat a job marsh very dominant at the front put down a line he really wanted to take that was where he was going interesting to see how this plays out Rich yeah very much so the European champion Alexis Pinowski opting for gate number one he’s got Joel Marsh and Clement Roshi he’s one of the rising stars of the French BMX scene and I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s got in this quarterfinal riders leaving the gate picowski on the inside got exactly what he wanted as he went into turn number one and riders getting shuffled back that looks like Joel Marsh in there in that second spot russia room in three def France in force so Albert Grappo of Italy he’s one of the riders you would expect to make it through and he’s got his work cut out right now he’s just worked his way up into three so Grappo in three Rosheru in four peace can now see and Marsh out in front as the Oh Ryder going down that was Joel Marsh of Australia the bike disappeared from in underneath him he hit the deck picinowski making it into Grappo France rasheru all going through disaster for Joel Marsh of Australia from being upright to being on the floor in the blink of an eye it only takes a fraction of a second rusher there very lucky in lots of ways to go through as we just see Marsh make his way down this street looks like he’s okay uh I think just the happiness factor gone for the day they’re not going to be too pleased with that but looks pretty intact so should be up and racing again into round number two rich that such a fine line between staying on and coming down yeah it is absolutely and uh you know just one little loss of grip he might we might actually see what happens here as they go into the corner you know Pinowski in front joe Marsh was going underneath and he literally just went underneath him the arms were raised it was like I can’t believe that’s happened meanwhile Pinowski taking the win grappo’s worked his way in as well and to France also making his way through to the semis joe Marsh just uh ruing his luck and hopefully you know he’ll be in the semi-finals he’ll make it through in round number two so Picadowski with Grouper Def France and Rasher the riders that qualify to go through in the second of our men’s under 23 quarterfinals we’re going to move on to the second half of those very shortly temperature continues to rise 32° now down in Sions getting very hot and sticky on the stands and getting pretty slippery out there as well your starters for heat number three in the men’s and 23 quarterfinals here at round one of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Serion down at the gate quarterfinal number three underway for the men under 23 into the turn we go looks like Tim Gusen of the Netherlands getting himself out in front former European champion Mattis Jac in there into Far in three so it’s going well for the French so far who’s got that fourth spot as they enter the corner and it looks like Matarano trying to get involved but it’s Tom one far hin who’s in that fourth spot now as they go in and out of that final turn all getting mixed up riders diving underneath as they go towards the line gusen is going to hold on and take it gusen gets it at the line farre’s in there as well matty Jac going through matarano couldn’t quite make it happen he ended up in five and Luis on Russo will be a little bit disappointed with sixth and that was an absolute rocket up the inside there going in trying to challenge from the back of the pack coming into that turn there and absolute trying to take a fly trying to move up not enough to come through to qualify with a fantastic result there up at the front interesting start with the world champion getting pushed back out of contention initially yeah he got hit from the left hand side and the right and then he ced the jump as they went towards that second turn that’ll cost him even more momentum so Pedro Benel Cesar world champion in Rock Hill in 2024 and out in the quarterfinal stages here in Sions so a little bit more cloud cover starting to come in which is only going to push the humidity up just that little bit you can see that our qualifiers go far along with Shak and one back in the riders going through mirano unable to make it through the last rider not to make the cut off going in and through as we move across to our final quarterfinal last of all quarterfinals Joshua Jolly Vincent Mullen Ryan Hartman Sil Nonst Huffer Edgars Lmanis and Emil Vin yeah great heat lining up joshua Jollyy’s already had a win in the USA BMX Pro Series this year he took that win out in Bakersfield in California um he’s got Vincent Mullen right there next to him ryan Hartman lining up for the Netherlands and I’d keep my eye on Edgar’s Lang Manis as well the Latvians certainly know how to put in a performance it drops on the last of the quarterfinals joshua Jolly on the inside leading it into the turn let’s have a look who’s going to line up behind him as they go in and out vincent Mullen Ryan Hartman it’s Lame and Lang Manis and Dun and I mentioned Lang Manis as we uh are about to drop the gate and he’s certainly trying to make his moves now but he’s been shuffled back just that little bit so Jolly Lame Nunless and Hoffer that is your one two three and four chachua Jolly leading it out of the final turn who’s going to pick up that four spot looks like Lang Manis is going to be the unlucky guy in 5C on Lame is he going to pick up the two i think he might have just done it noneless in three hoffer in four lang Manis looked like he was right up there he’s ended up back in fifth but Joshua Jolly certainly making his presence felt as a new rider in the under 23 class yeah looking very very good isn’t he a real mix he does mix it up first of the World Cup there’s a lot of racing before you come to the World Cup and all of a sudden you do see riders just coming through particularly when we see that movement up in age groups in the under 23 with riders moving in and riders moving out johnny built speed came into position one they’re really looking good and holding that position on the way down behind it was initially really tight for the last qualifying spots but then just stretched out towards the end yeah he started to open up just that tiny little bit lang Manis didn’t quite have enough in the tank he had to chase Hoffer across that line he had a great start just couldn’t quite make it pay the rest of the way around the Lapium Rider so the last of the results in the men’s under 23 quarterfinals on your screen with Joshua Jolly going through with Lame and Nunis and hover the last qualifiers go in from our quarterfinals into the semifinals which will be coming up a little bit later on today we’re here bringing you all the action from the eighth and quarterfinals here at round one of the UCI Beer Makes Racing World Cup 14th of June here in Sion with round two coming up on the 15th of June rounds three and four are from Papa on 21st and 22nd of June then have the World Championships coming up but last rounds of the World Cup 20th and 21st of September from Santiago Delestera in Argentina six rounds of the World Cup and of course the World Championships from Copenhagen in Denmark where these riders will be looking to shine it’s the first of the quarterfinals for the many elite lineup silven Andre right there on the inside so it’s Andre Kennedy Mayu and Pard so much horsepower on those inside four gates as they head into the turn silven Andre picking up the whole shot isaac Kennedy in there into two jamie Obrink has been shuffled back into five now and that looks like Arthur Pard in there in that third spot but Silan Andre in control at the moment isaac Kennedy looking comfortable in that second position the European champion Arthur Pard he knows this track very very well he’s in there in that third position where is Quill and Isidor is he going to go out in five i’ve got a feeling Troop Pulk has made it through in that fourth spot the USA rider makes it in isador in five roman Mayu out in eight and you can tell from Drew Pulk’s reaction how pleased he is with that finish he was having to fight all the way down he had half an eye over his shoulder I think as he was coming through very aware sitting in that fourth place under pressure and Roman May who not just out but out by some margin going through 36 seconds and 3 seconds behind Estelle who came here behind Brink and then is in front so may not be his day here today on home turf absolutely not out in the quarterfinals in 2023 and out in the quarterfinals again in 2025 best stop talking about home advantage yeah home disadvantage under pressure maybe uh we’ll have to see how he goes when we come back for our next round for round number two which is also here in Samio in France so with the first of those quarterfinals done with Silven Andre going through with Isaac Kennedy Alter and Drew Pul as we move on to the second of our quarterfinals that’s inside gate being drawn by by Leo Garion he’s inside of CL he’s got to make that count so four French riders in the second quarter final who’s going to be the first into that turn in and out we go uh Stephan of Germany’s had an absolute fly and Matis Rago Reish in there in that second spot where is Eddie Clerte he’s trying to make his way in as is Leo Garan as they go in and out of the corner garcia and Marcos three and four so he’s going to get interested in this final corner the French riders you would expect to go through might actually be on the way out as they bring it down towards the line it looks like Eddie Clerte is going to go out in five i think Matis Rako Reach going through yes Clare out in five garan out in seven len out in eight three I would say heavy hitters going out at this quarterfinal stage and three riders from the home nation here in France as well there definitely wasn’t going to be a 1 two three they’ve got only got one out of the four riders in there great ride there by Kimono Garcia i mean absolutely had that dial but a great move off there from the front you can see though all of a sudden just the temperatures rising the pressure is coming on and we are starting to see some different results coming in yeah if you’d have said to me that Leo Garan and Eddie Clare and Cameron Larson wouldn’t make it through that quarterfinal I’d have struggled to believe you but that just proves what BMX is everything can change in the blink of an eye as we look at the result there Mati Rago Rishard Stephan Hy Matteo Carmona Garcia and Pablo Garcia marcos all making it through to the semi-final stage clin Garan and Larsson out you can just see the breeze starting to pick up a little bit more we are due for the gust to start to rise between now and our finals at the end of round number one but we’re in with the quarterfinals with our men’s elite this is the third of our quarterfinals oh no idea what happened then three riders missed the gate completely including Ross Cullen of Great Britain Loris Ahard Liam Webster Oliver Moran with the 1 two three four into the gate so Ross Cullen is now going to have to do it the hard way from the back of the pack it got completely mixed up people are making mistakes on the second uh straight all getting shuffled around ahar Moran Ren Cararell Booty where is Ross Cullen just trying to check out i think he’s in about fifth or sixth at the moment as they come in and out of the turn it might be disaster for the rider from Great Britain as they go across the line ahard Booty Moran Ren Carell Ross Cullen in five i’d be really curious to know what happened at the top of that start when three riders twitch like that really really strange isn’t it you don’t normally see occasionally the yard worn but uh the gates are are tested and tested and tested and they they are used for a reason because they give you that accuracy it almost looked like it was just a lack of driver just getting the timing wrong i don’t know whether they heard something in the background and it it could just be a little distraction that they all hear yeah I think it was a possibility that you know sometimes if there’s just even the slightest sound you know it can just be enough to make people twitch and that can ruin it your lap for you well there’s your result abahad Booty Moran Renarell Ross Cullen will be bitterly disappointed to go out at that stage so Cullen Suarez Alden and Webster said the riders not making it through abah Booty Moran going through with Rank Carell which leaves us one more quarterfinal to go at this stage at the men’s elite the last chance last of our riders to make their way through to those semifinals we’ll be bringing you later on today’s semi-finals and our finals coming up later on from Serion in France here at round one of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup last the quarterfinals for the many elite and that looks like Cameron Wood the cowboy the winner of the USA BMX Pro Series in 2024 picking up the whole shot yuris D back there in four so he’s going to have to be very very careful as he’s got Mitchell Shotman right there with him as well as they go into turn number two aral is in that third spot it’s Wood and Schmidt going one and two down that third straight doday looking good for the fourth spot at the moment he’s going to work his way through unless Mitchell Shman has the last straight of a lifetime cameron Wood taking it to the line usa going through out in front julian Schmidt in two aral in three dod in four shotman out in five and bias in six taking seventh and Mar former world champion taking eighth spot going in over the line there very interesting to see the differences in pace yish do starting to come back on to former Cameron Wood no problems at all yeah Cameron Wood looking superb here and he got himself out got in front of Yos they went towards turn number one our lady was on the inside and just slotted himself into that fourth spot and as he came across the line it is the U USA BMX Pro Series champion from 2024 who took the win donnie was safe in that fourth spot i’m sure he’ll uh he’ll be there or thereabouts come semi-final time a little bit later on 8 of a second separating the winning times from the first to the fourth of our men’s elite quarterfinals was an absolutely fantastic set of races as the track officials water the track and the crowds as well trying to keep them cool the temperature continues to run it’s going to go up to about 35 and a half 36° in the shade our spectators and riders out there in the blazing proven sun in the southeast of France some cracking right here and none less than that of Cameron Wood now confirmed as being our winner of our final men’s elite quarterfinals ahead of Schmidt alber and Dodie with Shman bias of Bman and Mark out of the race and Rich any real major takeovers is it just anything can happen because we’ve confirmed yet again BMX racing it is wildly variable despite what should be a very consistent set of races you just looked at the numbers yeah I think the consistency is there in that you know most of the heavy hitters have made it through and you do have that odd scenario like with Lawson going out in Gary you know that thing does happen every now and again but you’ve got your markouts in the your do days you know the riders that you would expect to see isaac Kennedy they’re all up there in the semi-finals so it’s pretty much business as usual but I can’t wait for that semi-final stage because the racing like the weather in Sarons is going to be absolutely redot it is indeed and there’ll be no jet hosing the riders down although the spectators are very appreciative of that I’m sure plenty of French flags flying at the side of the track here at Sion that’s our eighth and quarterfinals done and dusted and it’s certainly dusty out there at the moment we will be back for the semifinals and the finals in our men’s and women’s under 23 and elite competitions a little bit later on here at round one of the UCI BMX racing world cup do make sure that you follow the UCI BMX Racing on Facebook on Instagram UCI_BMX_Racing onx and of course you can catch up with all of the full results on the UCI website which is www.uci.org great to see the racing Rich in in eighth and quarterfinals absolutely loving the fact that we’ve we we see a little bit more of that story that’s coming through of of riders progressing who’s on form who’s not and see why riders are maybe not there in those semi-finals and finals what are the riders doing now they’re they’re going to be uh you know getting themselves recovered you know uh taking on board the fluids just staying out of the sun basically and just making sure they’re in prime condition for those semi-finals and finals later on so we will be back for those so it will be a very very interesting set of races we’re going to refuel rehydrate as well before we get there I hope you’re going to do the same before we go in as we look across towards uh von 2 at the moment uh the fans already a number of them in the shade there you can see a number of the French officials doing exactly the same so great to see so many young fans down there now when we were last down in Seron Rich there was actually a really big signing session wasn’t there uh for the uh stars and for the fans and for the youngsters it was heaving yeah it was it was very very busy and the elite riders did the right thing and they you know they took the time to you know uh experience the fans and just let them know that they appreciate them being there and uh I’m sure all those young fans there in Sions will get the opportunity to speak to their favorite riders and some point and pick up that allimportant autograph and photo and if somebody’s is watching and thinking we’re going to get ourselves down and we’re going to go down paying a visit to all the stands and the stalls that are based out and around supporting the event is important picking your time to to talk to the riders is important as well particularly when they’re in preparation for the racing you don’t want to be going up to them as they’re just about to go in there well we’re going to leave our riders to get themselves readyed we’re going to leave our spectators to enjoy the rest of the event down there ready for our semi-finals and finals from Rich and myself Matt Payne we will see you again for our semi files very shortly ready watch the game [Music]
