Looking for a fun bike to commute and ride around the city. Both are apparently in good condition, and both for sale around $250 on marketplace. Any advice on which is the better buy?
The Nishiki has more cool factor I think but the specialized is probably more practical as it has normal brifters.

The fit is very different. The nishiki has a much more aggressive fit, the handlebars are lower than the saddle. The specialized is easier to adjust. It has a more upright position that will be comfortable for a less fit rider, but can be adapted to an aggressive position. The specialized is a solid entry level bike. It doesn’t attract much attention or get anybody excited, but it’s a good choice. The nishiki is a classic. It’s beautiful and interesting. More difficult to ride with down tube shifters and single pivot brakes. Any way you compare specs the nishiki will lose, look how beautiful it is!
I would choose the nishiki, but the smart choice is the specialized.
