Hi everyone, we started this weekendÂ
on a 3 days tour of the Bodensee one of the least challenging routes andÂ
least wild of Europe. We are the whole family with three bicycles, four pannier bagsÂ
and we just started. Back there is Lindau, on this side is Bregenz. We’re going to doÂ
basically the whole tour of the Bodensee. And here is the setup: the usualÂ
tracking bike, my daughter’s bike, the coupling system, seat and four bags. And after our long stay in Austria,Â
here we are in Switzerland: hello, grĂĽzi! We couldn’t miss some good rain. This is a Hundertwasser house that I didn’t even know existed. They let us in in theÂ
last minute, they’re about to close. So, we are getting close to Konstanz, we’re about 15 km away. Here is aÂ
small station with some ice cream. Still in Switzerland for a few seconds and nowÂ
it’s going to be Germany! With the green signs. So here we are in Constance; we are going to spendÂ
the night here. We did a bit more than 80K today, all flat, not especially exciting honestly.Â
The route is not right on the lake but a few 100 m inland. Day two started. Here is ourÂ
hotel the good old Ibis, and now we go to quickly check Konstanz before going around theÂ
part of the lake which is called Unterseen. And now we are in Germany, Germany, Germany,Â
Germany…SWITZERLAND! Goodbye Germany, welcome Switzerland. So, today we made it for lunch to Stein am RheinÂ
which is this city…here. And we’re going to go for lunch in this restaurant, the yellow house,Â
where we stayed exactly 6 years ago. We spent the night and I still remember the dinner where we hadÂ
a trout, which is usually for me a normal fish, but it was one of the best fish I everÂ
had in my life. Let’s see if I’m going to destroy my memory by having something notÂ
as good, or maybe we are going to top it. Here the lunch is finished. We didn’t getÂ
the the trout as last time, but we got pike, which is also excellent but, yeah, I must sayÂ
that the memory of the trout that I had was a bit better. But still absolutely excellentÂ
and recommended, here in the hotel Rheinfels. We are on the way back to Constance. ThisÂ
is Allensbach and this is the island of Reichenau. The idea was to go by boat from hereÂ
to there, and then along the island to Constance, but the last ferry was one and a half hours ago,Â
so we are going to continue on this coast. Getting back to Constance, and I must say thatÂ
the whole stretch is pretty boring. We are almost never along the lake and inÂ
the middle of fields like this here. So, here we are on the ferry betweenÂ
Constance and Meersuorg, it is where we stay for the night. And, yes,Â
a very beautiful sunset here. Arrived in Meersburg, and now let’sÂ
see if we find quickly the hotel. Third and final day on the Bodensee.Â
We are in Meersburg. We’re going to spend a few hours here and then along theÂ
coast down to Lindau and then back home. Leaving Meersburg, and the last stretchÂ
to Lindau, where the car is. Here we are in Wasserburg. It is probably the lastÂ
stop before Lindau, where we have the car. And we made it back to Lindau. Everything wentÂ
well. I hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, like it and subscribe! And now my recommendations:Â
the clear highlight of the tour is the infrastructure. There’s a bicycle route going allÂ
around the lake, mostly separated from the road, so it is safe, it is very good for family.Â
It’s flat, there are many stops, you can go to the lake. The lowlight is the landscape.Â
So, for a large part the route is not close to the lake. It’s also quite expensive: familyÂ
rooms were in the range of €200 per night. So, overall recommendation: I give it two to threeÂ
stars, but it depends on what you like. I usually like most the landscape, that’s the party IÂ
enjoy the most. If you like a safe ride ideal for families with lots of stops, then I’m sureÂ
you’ll enjoy the trip. Bye-bye, see you next time.
