Bluebikes are making it easier to get around Boston two wheels at a time.

Apparently, with the weather heating up, many of us are getting out and hitting the town, baseball games, dinner outside, anything to enjoy the weather. And now Boston is trying to make it even easier to get around two wheels at a time. NBC 10 S Eli Rosenberg explains. Hey, how are you? I got a question for you. Have you seen a lot more of these blue bikes around town? Some of them just passing you by. All right, so there is a reason for this blue bike bonanza. But first you’re going to want this app. All right. So now we’re in the app. And look at all the different places we can go here from Boston to Cambridge Somerville and Everett. Now look down here. See that scan me button. Hit that right now. And look at us. We are ready to ride. All right, so come along with me, because I want to tell you why we are seeing just so many of these blue bikes around town. We just don’t have enough capacity to really keep up with with the need. And that’s because last year, riders like me and many of you took more than 5 million trips. 5 million. Hard to believe. But with views like this and the fact that Boston is relatively flat, it’s easy to get around. But the system is not perfect. As the city explains here, we want to make sure that there are bikes and docks available for people when they arrive. And that right there is why the city is adding more than 100 docking stations, just like this one. The goal to have a docking station like this near every home. As it stands right now, 90% 90% of the homes in Boston have one of these docking stations within a ten minute walk. The idea being more people on blue bikes like this means less cars on the road, less traffic, easier for everyone to get around. And I got to tell you it all. A bit of a
