Violent storm struck Milan in the early hours of July 25, 2023, causing widespread damage.
The storm brought extremely heavy rain, strong winds-up to 100km/h(62 miles) and hail, which uprooted trees, flooded streets, and damaged property.
The storm also caused significant disruption to transportation, with trains and buses being cancelled or delayed. The city’s main airport was also closed for several hours.
The storm is the latest in a series of extreme weather events that have hit Italy in recent months. In June, a heatwave caused temperatures to soar to record levels, while in July, wildfires have ravaged parts of the South of the country and heavy hailstorms in the North.
After the storm of night 25th of July in Milan hundreds of trees were uprooted, blocking roads and causing power outages.
Several buildings were damaged by falling trees or hail.
Cars were crushed by falling trees.
The city’s main train station was flooded, forcing the cancellation of several trains.
The city’s main airport was closed for several hours.
The storm is a reminder of the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. As the climate changes, these events are likely to become more common, unfortunately causing widespread damage and disruption.
On The day of 25th, after the dramatic night in Milan, we went around to record the damage.

It looked like y'all had a hurricane come through. When hurricane Ida hit us here in Louisiana in 21 it torn up and uprooted a lot of trees. I had 2 trees uprooted, one fell on the house. It looked like a war zone. Just like what happened to y'all in Miland. Thank God everyone is safe (I hope).
