After the old OG Shimano Exage LX components started to give up after years and years of service, I finally found time to give my trusty KTM the x-biking treatment:
- Cold-setting the frame to 135mm rear spacing to make room for a 1×11 setup
- Inject some Stridsland goodness, budget only allowed for an Anchor bar sadly
- Reuse parts from the parts-bin that I couldn't let go off
Final BOM:
- KTM Ultracross MX, built 1991 in Austria, Mannesmann 25 CroMo4 tubing, 48cm frame height
- Shimano Exage 500 LX crankset
- converted to 1x using a narrow-wide 32T chainring from Aliexpress
- Stridsland Anchor Bar
- Sunday Bikes "Freeze" topload stem
- Shimano BR-M454 brakes
- Dia Compe 1707 brake hanger
- Suntour XC Pro brake levers
- DMR Brendog Death Grip handlebar grips
- Ingrid RD1 1×11 derailleur
- SRAM XX1 11 speed chain
- SRAM NX Eagle PG-1230 cassette
- SRAM Apex 1 trigger
- Fabric saddle on KTM seatpost
- Schwalbe Billy Bonkers 26×2.1
- Wolber AT 20 rims, Shimano Exage FH-HG50 hubs
- Shimano FH-RM35 rearhub donated its freehub and axle
I am very happy with the result and still in love with the yellow-on-black string paintjob and all the details on the bike. Its like a Kuwahara but from Austria 🙂
Took the bike to the local skatepark today for a spin to take some pictures, enjoy!

Nice! How much did you pay for the Ingrid RD1?
