Just bought a pair of tires on sale, but I'm not sure which one should go on the front and which on the rear. One is wider (2.5") but has a harder compound, the other is narrower (2.4") but softer.
I mostly ride enduro/trail in dry conditions, with roots and rocks.

Yeah. It’s kinda arse about face I’m not gonna lie. Ideally a wider/larger casing would go on the front…. But all other things being equal I would tend to think that the harder compound on the rear is probably where the decision should land. I’d say 2.5 on the rear.
I’m running the MH front and rear but mulleted. Plenty of grip for hard bikepark and Alps terrain.
But rear tire wasn’t lasting long, so quite soft knobs
