The afternoon sun hung heavy in the Andalusian sky as I set off from Palomares, its warmth pressing down on the landscape. The first stretch followed the Almanzora River near Cuevas, an easy rhythm setting the pace before the terrain began to shift. The ride turned rugged as I entered the Rambla de Górrara Canyon—dry earth and scattered rock made for a challenging path. Mina de los Tres Pacos stood silent ahead, its past carved into the cliffs. The route wove through the La Rellana Mining area before the real test began—the steep ascent from Collado de la Rellana to El Cucharon Peak. The telecom equipment at 714 meters marked the summit, where the view stretched endlessly over the Sierra Almagro. A brief pause, just enough to take in the vastness, then the descent began. Returning to the Collado, the ride smoothed out on Camino de la Rellana before a short off-road push at Cjo. Sotomyor. From here, the route dropped toward La Vita Peak at 599 meters, its ridge guiding the way down to Guazamara. The final stretch along the A1201 unfolded in fast, rolling terrain, leading back through Cuevas del Almanzora and finally to Palomares, where the sea greeted me once more. Fifty kilometers under the Andalusian sun—heat, effort, and quiet satisfaction.
