Hey all,
This summer I'm taking my 1987 Koga Miyata Randonneur on a bikepacking trip, and I'm looking for the right 28mm tires to match both the ride and the vibe.
What I need:
- (Semi-)fast rolling for road
- Capable of handling hard-packed gravel/sandy paths
- Puncture resistant enough for long days in the saddle
What I like:
- Light skinwall / tanwall – love that retro aesthetic

Mooie fiets. Ideaal voor asfalt routes.
Qua band zou ik Schwalbe Marathon nemen. Is wel zwart maar is in 28-622 te krijgen en zijn erg resistent tegen lek rijden.
Uh, your bike is gorgeous. 🧡
Anyway, I love Panaracer Pasela (protite version), I’ve had very good luck with them. Thousands of miles on all my bikes and not a single puncture 😳
They’re fast-rolling, but durable and grippy for wet roads, light gravel and hardpack dirt. They also have the prettiest tanwall IMO.
What I like most is that they’re economical (cheap and last a good while), and very supple despite the puncture protection. I mean, based on what you’re asking for, I can’t think of a better tire! Rene Herse Barlow Pass’ are amazing but, like, 3x the price.
Schwalbe Marathon, i thing begins in 700×25 and up
