Brand new trek slash+, has maybe 100 miles on it. I’ve been working on bikes for a few years but no experience with high pivots. This chain line seems super extreme and is causing a bunch of rubbing on the derailleur cage in the lower half of the cassette. It’s also causing the chain to pop off the lower idler when I roll backwards. I’ve checked that all the correct spacers are installed on the pulleys and the hanger is straight. The derailleur looks a little bent (probably due to said chain line) but it’d be bending in a way that would help. I did try adding a link to the chain but that made it too long. Noticing a ton of wear on the main idler also. Is something off here or are high pivots just like this?

I don’t have a ton of experience with high pivot bikes but I suspect that’s just the way it is. With the lower idler pulley, the run of chain across the bottom between the front drivetrain and the rear drivetrain is shorter, meaning that the chain angle MUST be more extreme to get to either end of the cassette.
