Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some advice on a used bike I’m considering buying. I’m based in Brussels, Belgium, and I’m 1.80m tall, 75 kg. I’ve been riding a bit and want to get out more now that the sunny days are here!
The bike:
– Model: Bianchi Via Nirone 7
– Frame: Aluminum with a carbon fork
– Size: 57 cm (which seems right for my height)
– Groupset: Shimano Sora triple crankset (apparently the last triple made by Bianchi)
– Wheels, stem, and saddle are all original
– Recently serviced
– Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires
– Overall: in very good condition according to the seller
The asking price is €300, and I’m tempted because it seems like a good deal, but I’m not super experienced with buying second-hand bikes.
What I’m wondering:
– Does this sound like a fair price for this bike in good condition?
– Anything specific I should check or look out for?
– Any experience with this model? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks so much for your advice! 🚴♂️

Seems pretty fair as long as there is no frame damage or cracks. I would make sure the derailer is straight and I would check the tire wear and potentially the chain wear, though the chain isn’t crazy expensive. I would also test the bike in person if the seller allows it. If it fits well and the bike is truly ride ready then at 300 euros your not going to get screwed by any means. You might be able to negotiate him down though. I would off 250 and see if he bites. Granted I’m in the US so bike prices are a fair bit higher here than over there so take my advice with a grain of salt and definitely listen to others advice on here too
Well, its close to 20 years old, and its equipped with what was very basic components also when it was new, and everything on it is obviously outdated. I’m tempted to say asking price is steep. I’d say half would be fair. On the other hand, you dont get a lot of great bikes in this price range, so if it is to check out if you like it or not this is a cheap way to find out also at the price the seller is asking. But I urge you to try to negotiate on the price.
