Hi

I have been cycling for a while not but only casually. Max I've done is about 10km in one go. I haven't cycled since last July and want to get back to it. I'm in UK

I've only owned hybrid bikes before and I think the last one I had, bought in 2018 was also a carrera for around £280 (I don't remember exactly which carrera model I had).

I'm considering getting the crossfire 2 hybrid from halfords for £385. Are there better alternatives in that price range? I've only considered Halfords because that's where I bought my last bike. Saw some posts about checking Decathlon but I don't know what's good from the ones they have on offer.

I will only be cycling on the road and I don't think I've ever cycled more than about 10km in one go.

Thanks for any help

  1. Avoid anything with suspension at that price, it’ll be heavy and do nothing at all.

Decathlon are good, comparable if not slightly better than Halfords.

Honestly kona dew, or dew plus if you really want to push your budget, marin Kent field and calibre stich (which is the same sort of price and a lovely looking bike) are all far better bikes, minus the weighty suspension and Halfords assembly issues.

Edit, apologies the stitch is only that price for a size small
