Bike is Trek Procaliber 8, bought one month ago. Noticed the sound today while descending on relatively rough terrain. Thought it was my front brake but it seems to be coming from the fork or head tube.

Most noticeable when applying pressure on the bar, also when turning the bar sharply. I’m taking it to the shop for some other adjustments either way, but is this something to be concerned about? Thanks!

Why does my head tube / fork make popping, cracking sound? What is it?

  1. Gosh that’s loud, you may be able to isolate whether it’s coming from the fork going through its travel or something in the headtube just by holding on to them with one hand while compressing. Either way, yes, it’s concerning I hope the shop figures it out.
