It does look like someone’s put the wrong rear shock on it. That Fox DPX2 looks pretty new! It’s way too long which might be adding to the bike feeling too big. The bike is from 2004ish I believe.

If it’s your first bike? Ride it and use it till it falls apart. See if ya like the sport.

I have a bike sorta like that. It’s probably worth 50 to 100 bucks depending on how well it rides.
If it’s a little big for you, you can lower the seat, although you may need to cut the stem a bit. Also, that rear shock looks a little long and so you might be able to adjust it or replace it to bring the bike down a bit.

Not worth probably much but definitely can ride it!

That Fox rear shock is worth more than the rest of the bike combined. Which is fine, because that shock is completely the wrong size anyhow.
