cool bridge sorry buddy welcome to Geneva and the weather is glorious today so this marks the end of my cycling journey to a point because the rest of my time traveling around Europe it’s going to be buses and trains mostly might be some more cycling we’ll maybe do some but in terms of the journey from the UK down to Switzerland this is the end point today and what an amazing two and a half weeks it’s been covering over a thousand miles visiting four countries and taking an F1 race along the way if you’ve not seen them you can catch parts one to nine on the channel but we’re going to finish the journey today we’ve reached the end of the road as we move on to part 10 Geneva let’s go cycling so we kick off the final installment in the series part 10 it’s been a long road but it feels great to be in Geneva since you last saw me at the end of part 9 on the banks of Lake Geneva I cycled across the city and now on the west side and I checked into my hotel the Ibis nice place good price and has secure underground car park so perfect for the bike the only downside is at the top of a hill so not great after long ride yesterday but we got there so for today’s video I have one day Geneva before heavy rain arrives tomorrow but I’m determined to make the most of it so my plan for my one solitary day in Geneva is to actually leave the city going to make my way across the French border and then head up on the cable car to top of Mount Salv because I think that’s a great place to end with views of the Alves and the city itself so let’s get to it let’s go city’s geared up to bike in which is quite nice as well got lots of bike paths separated from the traffic oh this is where This is where This thing keeps somehow keeps tricking me also didn’t record my mileage yesterday record me as like six miles instead of like 60 for sake where are you from from the UK oh okay ironically I go all the way to Geneva and the first cyclist I meet is a fellow British oh nice have a fantastic day to be fair though I haven’t seen a fellow Brit since Holland so it was a nice surprise good to see him he also had a cool t-shirt so I’m making my way down into the city cruising downhill the very same hill I had to climb yesterday at the end of the long ride which was absolutely killer but I got it done a little bit of walking involved obviously a lot nicer cruising downhill today as you can see in Geneva really clean beautiful city really good for cyclists you’ve got all these cycle paths separated from the traffic and when you get to lights you get to go first now man i tell you so as we cruise further down let’s cue the music oh it’s so nice to be here really enjoying the ride beautiful sunny day as I made my way through the city I reached the river A which I now need to follow south towards the mountain so let’s head that way there was also this really cool mosaic i’m not sure what it is so if you know let me know in the comments nice on the river now heading south let’s go towards the mountain this video has been 4K cuz I’ve run out of memory yeah cool bridge yeah storage has not been my friend i bought a new SD card in bezel which I proceeded to fill up yesterday so running out of storage got one ride just to record so should be good continuing on pass cool bridge just noticing how clean the city is and how nice the air is oh it’s so beautiful the weather yeah the air is so fresh here man so much going on a city tramas cars cycleways people on scooters it’s a shame I only really had one day here i’d love to have spent a bit more time in the city but due to the weather time I’m going to have to leave tomorrow definitely going to come back spent three or four days here when I’ve got a bit more energy and my legs aren’t so dead speaking of which any climbing today is just killer after yesterday slowly dying today climbing today not much but enough me up it’s been a long two and a half weeks over 400 miles so looking forward to getting off the bike onto bus and trains in the next few days man I’m listening pretty much through the park oh we’re going to walk through the park then sorry buddy so my one negative mark for Geneva is the fact that no bikes allowed in the parks which is a real shame because it’s lovely through parks but the rest of the city is pretty good for cycling and you can’t have everything so I proceeded to push my way out the park and about another 10 km down the road the end goal Mount Salv came into view looking pretty scary and at this point regretting my choice see I got a pretty severe fear of heights and the closer I got to the mountain the worse that fear got we’ve made it all the way out here now can’t whip out the last minute so we’re going to do it last little bit of climbing let’s get them legs pumping it’s hard to explain how tired my legs are today but we’re getting it done and I made it to the cable car station nice to be here that’s kind of the cycling portion for the second dump so can rest for a little bit still looking pretty scary we’re going to get changed lock the bike up grab a ticket and jump on the cable car up to the top of the mountain right got my ticket bikes locked up changed my t-shirt met a new Singaporean friend and now I’m just psyching myself up ready for this of my hides and we are on not so bad here at the blob just about doing this though what’s not doing anything for my nerves is how many people they’ve packed into this little cable car there’s a lot of people in here hello everyone so higher and higher we went views are really cool up here but I’m just keeping my head down but it definitely saved me riding up the mountain i could not have done that today it’s a nice shortcut and it was pretty cool even though it was super scary well that was a bit sketchy the old cable car i wish I brought a bike up now i just rode back down a nice day so my reward for conquering my sphere of heights today was this amazing view of Geneva and the lake well worth it wow great view up here let’s go and check out the Alps i should have got the bike ready down let the wood destroy my brakes what’s left of the maze oh let’s go this way 15 minutes to go and see Mount Blanc we’re going to go and do that why not why the not let’s go and check out Mount Blanc 15 minutes hiking we can do without too much Chinese friend or my Singaporean friend should I say but yeah right oh man amazing oh here we are we made it panor view of Mount Blanc after a 10-minute hike heavy breathing is the order of the day i ran into these two Polish ladies so they became my hiking buddies i’m dying after hiking yesterday and it was definitely worth come up here cuz the view of the Alps was amazing really beautiful up here in the sunshine man beautiful around here so yeah there’s top of Mount Blanc so one last view of Mount Blanc around here awesome incredible and then around the corner from there moving on I saw these guys dicing with death definitely not for me but pretty cool to see made it to the summit sky is beautifully blue today well how nice is it up here beautiful building you got prayer flags it is really cool however there’s like a death drop just over that barrier stay away from there wa it’s cool up here but bloody hell scary scary scary scary so just around the corner from the summit I found this open area a little bit less scary than the death drop and I thought what better place to summarize the journey to Geneva and what a journey it’s been over the last two and a half weeks an amazing adventure and I’ve loved every second of it kicking off the ride back in the UK had a great time cycling across London and making our way to the East Coast meeting new friends along the way like John and a Dutch duo and then taking the overnight ferry across to Holland highly recommend nice and easy great for bikes i then moved on to country number two Holland where I said goodbye to my furry friends and proceeded solo down the curs route in North Holland an amazing day ride probably one of the best I had in the whole trip definitely something I’ll do again brought me to Amsterdam the city I love and it’s great to have my bike here and do a bit of exploring over the week and of course can’t beat attending the F1 fantastic weekend in fact my whole time in Holland was amazing and then moved on to country number three Germany somewhere I’ve not spent a lot of time definitely been missing out great cruise down the Ry taking in Dustorf and Cologne beautiful cities definitely places again that I’ll try and get back to from Cologne then started fighting the weather a little bit and did the cheat and took the train but to be honest this was a great experience as well seeing what the German trains had to offer which then landed me in Basil which also loved a really interesting city across three countries and my first real experience of Switzerland in fact all my time in Switzerland was amazing it was so beautiful had some interesting climbs and cycle paths for weeks and of course amazing backdrops of the Alps and Lake Geneva so since beginning the journey covered a lot of ground and with the remaining miles I did yesterday and the miles for today that brings total cycle miles in Rage Nea to 450 not bad going for 2 and a half weeks when you build train and boat into that as well total mileage in a whole Reneva is 1,156 it’s been an amazing journey thanks for watching hope you enjoyed the ride and with that the road to Geneva comes to an end and finish the journey to the top of this mountain let’s go so with the road to Geneva finished the road home begins and if you’re wondering how I actually got back from Geneva that’s a journey all of itself because instead of taking the easy route I decided to go and see one of my friends via northern Spain which made the whole journey a bit longer so getting from Switzerland to Spain proved to be a bit of a challenge it involved a very early and very long bus ride from Geneva over the Bordeaux first leg of this journey took me from Geneva through the Alps on some very sketchy roads super wet bus drivers not have any of the slowing down but we made it to Le airport in one piece where I had a nice 8hour wait for the next bus to arrive and if you’re wondering why I didn’t take a train across France it’s very tricky to find a train in France actually allowed you to take your bike so I made my way to Bordeaux where I did find a train that allowed me to then get to the Spanish border Hendai jumped on the train made my way down to Hendai and then cycle across the border with the seventh border crossing onto San Sebastian from San Sebastian I then took another train across the North Spain all the way to Santandere but my friend then came and got me in the car and I went to stay at his house up in the mountains south of Thihon it was beautiful up here managed to capture a few more weeks of sunshine before the inevitable rain caught up me so when the rain came I jumped on a ferry from Sundere took me all the way back to Portsmouth and for Portsmouth it was a straight training to London and a ride home from there both me and my bike made it back in one piece so that’s what’s to come i’m going to make my way down now and go and take a jump in Lake Geneva hope you’ve enjoyed the series and today’s video if you have don’t forget to like share and subscribe i’ll catch you in the next one where we kick off our Asia series let’s go
