What do we think of this?
I've also heard about julien artega and his grips.
And wtp also stole the swampmaster full suspension bike of another brand.
And also the eclat juggernaut pedals where stolen from subrosa?
Eclat/wtp are famous for it. They treat their riders like shit apart from the top 1% like Felix or Godwin.
The most distasteful part of the whole thing is them not paying the royalties to Ty. Come to an agreement, continue making the tyre and continue paying Ty for it. Nice way for him to have a passive income.
Other brands are not immune to this, fit has the “tech grips” which were formerly a Chase Dehart grip before he moved to cult, fit trail pedal used to be a Shawn Mac signature pedal but got rebranded, fit kevlar railed seat used to be called eccd (Eddie Cleveland & Chase Dehart signature seat). Maybe fit was just more diplomatic about this and resolved it better.
As for the pedals, people used to remove pins from one side of Odyssey JCPC since the day they came out in the early 2010s. Zack Gerber 3D printed his own pedals with a grind side years back as well. Nothing to steal from subrosa here, it’s been done by riders for years.

No brand isn’t culpable of this, so while it’s disappointing it’s not remotely I unusual. Usually as other answers said item just changes name from the riders to something else. While the rider may have the ideas, the brand spends massive amounts on samples, testing and prototypes to bring it to the marketplace, along with a relative risk of it actually being popular and selling. Obviously no one’s psyched to read riders loosing out though whatsoever.

Same shit they did with Stevie’s Fireball tires. While legally within their right, I think it’s shady as fuck and they are making money off their names.

The riders assume they own it because they had an idea. Which is great to see a rider have they’re idea become reality. At the same time they assume everything. Riders have reps and agents now, so you think when working up a deal they’d be smart enough to have ahitnin writing and contracts made on stuff like parts idea’s that become signature. Legally binding shit. More so because they claim it happens all the time in the “industry” but still fall back into the same pattern of the ” I got fucked over” crowd. And then complain online. Maybe discuss it with the brand and try to figure shit out. Obviously there’s always.more to the story and this is one part, and I’m just stating my opinion.riders who are fortunate enough to get paid to ride bicycles and have parts with their names on them need to be smarter and a bit more humble, and don’t let the industry rake advantage of them. Lawyer up fool’s! Again this is just my opinion
