Slovenia by Bike Day 2: Bled & Beautiful Rivers!

Day 2 of our Slovenian cycling adventure is all about stunning rivers and breathtaking scenery! We follow the gorgeous Sava Bohinjska to the iconic Lake Bled, with its fairytale island church. [Music] day two of our Slovenian bike tour dawned in the charming town of Mos Nasoka Our day actually began at the local train station but not before I was completely captivated by the river flowing nearby It struck me how consistently clean and beautifully hued all the rivers we’d encountered in Slovenia were We took the train to Bohinska Bistria and it wasn’t long before we were back in the saddle and cruising along another incredible bike path This time we had the pleasure of cycling alongside yet another breathtaking river This path followed the course of the magnificent Sava Bohinska River This is the very river that flows out of the stunning Lake Boheen carving its way through the valley It’s a major source of the Sava River one of the longest rivers in Southeast Europe eventually flowing into the Danube The crystal clear water and the lush greenery along its banks made for an absolutely idyllic cycling experience The plan for the day was a manageable 40 km with around 400 m of elevation gain So a good mix of gentle climbs and rewarding downhills We put in some solid kilome with the constant soothing sound of the Sava Bohinska flowing beside us soaking in the fresh air and the stunning surroundings [Music] And then we reached a true Slovenian icon Lake Bled Wow the pictures really don’t do it justice That iconic church perched on the island in the middle of the lake with the dramatic mountains as a backdrop It was like something out of a fairy tale We spent some time just taking it all in admiring the serenity of the lake However it was clear that Bled is a major tourist hot spot It was quite crowded with people and cars While beautiful we were actually a little relieved when we hopped back on our bikes and rejoined the tranquility of the dedicated bike [Music] paths And finally we rolled into our destination for the night the town of Jeznness Another day of incredible scenery and memorable moments in the Slovenian countryside all with the Saba Bohinska playing a beautiful supporting role
