I’ll never tell anyone to change a setup that’s comfortable for them, but what is the appeal of having an oversized frame like this? Your center of gravity is higher than necessary, your frame is heavier, and your standover clearance is minimal. I fail to see any advantages, only drawbacks

I did the opposite, I’m 5’10 on a 51cm frame.

As long as you like it, have fun.
I do think a 54/56 frame would be much more comfortable and would look better.

I’m pretty sure a French fit is about a fist of seatpost, not none at all. A bigger frame gets the handlebars higher, but also puts them much farther forward, which I personally find creates a more uncomfortable stretched out position than closer, lower bars. But if it works for you, it works for you. Definitely a cool frame.

This isn’t French fit. French fit means a fist of seatpost. You’re still two sizes too big for a French fit.

It looks like most vintage frames in my area were 58+ cm, the French fit is really common. That being said, my 61cm vintage Raleigh probably has a shorter reach than my 58 or 59cm Specialized from the 90s.

This isn’t a “French fit”, this is just an ill-fitting bike.

this would probably be fine for a street/road bike, but you should be sizing *down* for trail riding. there is no way you can stand over the top tube on both feet.
and buy some fucking grips.

Out of interest, how much seat post should I have exposed to avoid ridicule? Obviously the answer is somewhere between “too much” and “not enough”. How wrong looking is my current set up?
French fit is having a fistful of seatpost showing and usually 2-5cm of quill as well.
This is 1910s-Fit.
I like it, especially for theft protection, but for style too. I would only do it with walking-pace high gearing up at 52-14 as it definitely would not be seeing any dirt trails.

Sick Rodriguez, btw.
It really wants fenders and a taller rider.

holy jeebus. Im 5’ 10 and ride a french fit as well but on a 55cm. Granted im rocking drops instead of sweepers right now but still, 62cm is absolutely past the limit 😂

I had a bike too tall for me that I kinda miss.
It had 27-in tires and I was running 53×16 and when that thing got momentum it felt awesome, but the lack of stand over space made me ultimately get rid of it
