The moment you had the group, you know, riding together there, there were always riders thinking, I have to spare a bit for this final. And then when they start looking at each other, the gap grows out by another two or three seconds very quickly. Another attack. Same repeat again. Uh there’s no way though we’re going to see this man only after the finish line. Robbie, you better get to the breakaway before he catches you. Well, I’m in real danger. The speed NO is going. See you soon. We’ll talk about the stage with Robbie, Steve, Matt, and all in the breakaway straight after the finish. Three kilometers to go for the lone attacker out of a group that was almost 40 strong. A whittle down to 11 riders. Then went early, very early and he stayed away. There’s Deont behind apologizing to Fbala who shakes his head. In the meantime, Depto [Applause] goes. Don’t know what happened there. We do know what’s happened to the gap. It’s 37 seconds are growing and they’re fighting for second place here. Important certainly for the likes of Picnic Postel and Xia Sastan. And after the apology, the shake of the head, there’s a discussion at the back now. He’s involved in a lot of scripts and scrapes and scraps, isn’t he, Mr. Debolt? Yes, it’s uh certainly something went on there. We can see the discussion going on and uh yeah, we we wonder, you know, what it is, but again, I think uh they’re very disappointed here. The guys that got into this break of 11 riders, they were all thinking, “Oh, this could be my day. uh if I choose the right moments and you know you attack and you just get a little bit of a downtime the others looked at each other and then you could be away as this man uh done uh quite a bit out from the finish but again you have to be able to finish it off and that’s always the question how good are you and this man certainly he’s been really good because he is you know putting in a great final now he has to just get to the finish the final 1700 m you know keep it clean because you know 42 seconds back to the chase racing group there. Uh, you know, you do not want anything to happen here and, uh, he should have enough experience looking after the leader of the team, all of that. He’s a, you know, really experienced rider, so get it home safe and it will help him that their stop start stuff. It looks as though they know now that they’re riding for second. There’s all her left hand side. May would follow at the back. First Judah for a long time for him just outside a kilometer to go then two stage wins a couple of years ago and it’s going to be a third at a grand tour. A third in the same grand tour. The one closest to his heart for Nikico Dense. And why do his team need this? Something to smile about, something to enjoy at dinner, something to cheer about, something to take home. Before today, 14 teams had absolutely nothing from this race. It’s been dominated by the same luck. But now that’s about to change. He can enjoy the moment here. Nicl Dense a 31year-old from Germany extending his relationship with the grand tour love of his life. Two years ago he won at the He’s got to do it again and his team needs this once more in the final week of Ajito Ditalia. Stage 18 was meant to be the sprinter stage. Once again, the Genital Italian final week. There’s somebody coming to the line all alone in a breakaway foiling those sprinters. A couple of days ago, the Gino was over for Red Bull Borhams. Niko Den has just saved it and that is a brilliant attack. Beautifully strongly ridden home. Yes. What a great ride by Nico Dense. Getting into the breakaway today was very difficult and then to finish it off in these circumstances and possibly the last chance for a breakaway to go for a stage win because the days to come the big mountain stages and of course a final day is not going to be a breakaway day. Great performance this man and he just saves he saves up for Red Bull Bora this year after being so disappointing. He gets his win. Look at the emotion of what it means to him and them all. There’s second and third to play for here as well. There are UCI points for a certain couple of teams. Very important. And it’s those two teams are at the front here. Picnic Panel Xan. Can Edmonson get the better of Kongi? The minute it looks like he might be able to do, but look at Mestri through the center. Blank coming around as well. It’s Mik Mestri coming all the way to the line. Seems Maest is there ahead of Planker Mi gets the next place. Then it might have been Edmonson. In any case, he finished ahead of the rider from XDS Astano, which is what we’re on about with the points. But the main headline is that Red Bull Bora Hanser had their Jalia saved by Nicod. Almost 40 riders in the break and he was one of the last to join him coming across when it looked as though the gap had gone. That effort he will be thankful for and the effort he was put will produce at the end far too strong for those who were going for it.

  1. Who is the useless Oirish commentator who I can hardly understand ? It makes little difference as he only ever states the bleedin obvious 🙁

  2. Del toro must have to take a doping test is from Mexico and that’s dangerous …. Bravo Carapaz I think he is going to be the champ of the Italian Giro ..

  3. Love it when a rider takes a flier from a breakaway and it pays off for a win. Full gas, full steam ahead. Turn that monster gear until you no longer can. Timed perfect. Good for Nico!

  4. Oh, there has been a stage today? Didnt watch it but am quite sure someone must have won. Congrats to him whoever he may be.

I’ll watch the one tomorrow. 😂

  5. Hey TNT why don’t you show how the break got established and show how he attacked the breakaway group to get away. It sure would make for more complete summary and more interesting for the viewers

  6. Truce in Lombardy
On the eighteenth stage, the Giro drew a deep breath among the green folds of Lombardy. The peloton, exhausted and ceremonious, seemed to have signed a tacit truce beneath the gray skies of late May. Nico Denz, opportunistic and cunning, carved through the final kilometers alone like a phantom in the mist of tactical indifference.
The wearers of the maglia rossa remained impassive, keeping their weapons sheathed, aware that the real war will be fought on the walls that still await. Today was a pause, a restrained waltz before the next explosion. Tomorrow, the mountains will pass judgment.
