I‘ve had this starter bike lock for a while now. It does the job but a day ago, I noticed the cut mark which you can guess the conclusion I came to. The cord held up but I’m a bit more conscious about protecting my bike for commuting and stuff. I’ve had zero trouble with theft before so I could use some reliable lock recommendations. Thanks

depends on how much you value your bike and wheels and seat. i use a good ulock + thick cable. i cable through my rear wheel and seat, around an object and then run my ulock through the front wheel and frame and connect the cable end to it.
Get a good U-lock. Kryptonite makes good ones (I wouldn’t get ABUS as they are owned by a fundamentalist Christian family and support fundamentalist churches, which throws stuff like the theory of evolution out the window). If you have an e-bike get either a really good U-lock (Kryptonite New York) or a good chain (Kryptonite evolution chain). If you have a normal bike a simple u-lock and cable should suffice (Kryptonite evolution u lock + cable)
not a cable lock, ever.
decent chain or u -lock.
got to be looking to spend minimum 10-15% of bike value on locks. One good one is good, two different ones much better.
but never a cable lock.
