Some oil gunk on components, and little tiny spots of rust on the chrome. How should I clean both? Accidentally got a bit of a nice find with the shimano dura ace gen 1, so want to do a proper job to preserve it and get it nice and clean. Any advice would be helpful!!

People will disagree (totally valid) but I will typically use very diluted soap and a low strength power washer on all my bikes. Fast, gets all the detailed spots and I’ve never had paint damage.
I mean whatever you do, do it 80’s cleaning montage style.
Dunk the whole bike in Triflow, BikeFarmer style.
For the pot/rust marked steel: aluminum foil crumpled up and rub it like you’re sanding it.
You’re welcome America.
Beautiful bike right there, definitely a keeper!. For oil gunk on components you can use lemon/citrus base dish washing soap, its a natural safe de-greaser. Soak it for a minutes then brush the parts; chain, RD cogs, cassette, chain ring and etc. For rust on chrome i used tooth brush soak with WD40 then scrub on concentrated rust spot so it wouldn’t scratch nearby chrome. For seat material, hoods, handlebar grip and even tires i used some clear shoe wax.
Ive applied turtle wax chome polish using 0000 steel wool to remove rust spots with great success.

Watch the first five minutes. This is the way it’s done.
Edit: actually it’s more like 50-55 years old.
