hi

decided to pull the trigger on a new bike. It doesn't have to be new, in the sense I am also considering second hand. My price point is in the 400-600 euro.

Milan (where I live) is relatively flat, the use would be daily commute and buying grocery, so i need to be able to install the two dechatlon bags I already own. Also, I am not a McGiver kind of person, so the less maintenance the better, hence I understood that I should focus on something with a hub gear. Also I'd use the bike for 40-60km week end excursions along the canal here in Milan.

All that said:

– tried this which really liked however my knees would hit the handle while turning: https://www.alpinabike.com/it/shop/velvet-man-28–.html

– I might have found a second hand "Trek district 2 equipped": however I am not seeing raving reviews. What do you think of this?

– other bike I like and might try soon: https://www.rossignoli.it/prodotto/rossignoli-city-bike-uomo/

– a friend suggested this: https://bbf.bike/city/collection-line

any suggestion is higly appreciated, thanks in advance

The best no maintenance commuter in my opinion has few things. A belt drive coupled with internal gears and loads of mounting points for fenders and panniers. It’s a bit hard to get a belt drive bike for 600 euros but it’s possible to buy one used. Can’t recommend it enough. I have 3 bikes in total and my gravel and mountain bike need so much looking after. Commuter is silent and I spray it with water once in a while in the winter but that’s it.
