It's hard to tell from a video, but I feel like this wheel should spin more freely with less drag. My other bikes spin more freely.

There's no brake rub.

It's a DT Swiss 350 hub that I changed from a Sram XD freehub bidy to a DT Swiss Ratchet (Shimano HG compatible) body.

Everything went together fine. I did use a lot of Phil Wood bearing grease, mainly to keep it a little quieter than normal – could that be a problem?

Or does over tightening the cassette lockring cause any sort of load that could be causing a problem? My torque wrench doesn't fit my cassette lockring, so I guessed on it.

Many thanks.

If you used lots of grease that would do this. Small amounts of grease only in freehubs. You should probably remove some, although it will eventually free up after a few rides.

  2. Good chance it’s the grease. Ride it for a while and it will probably loosen up

Double check the seal that goes around the freehub against the hub body.

I cant say for all of them but the seal can be one sided and needs to be put the right way round or you will get friction.

As for over tightening the cassette lock ring, that will have no impact other than making it difficult to remove that lock ring later.

  5. Could also be qr/ thru axle is overtightened. If it feels overly tight try loosening it a tad.

If your brake is not dragging, check the end play and condition of your wheel bearings. It’s easy to over tighten the bearings when you’re locking the nut.
Just takes practice and you’ll get it right.
