Minor chip in the carbon stem/cockpit. Of course it’s an issue, and I’m brining it to Trek to investigate and repair under warranty, but can I ride it before then?
I have zero experience with this new crop of bikes with integrated stuff, but isn’t that some sort of plastic dust cap?
If structural, and if something feels clunky or loose when turning the bars, absolutely not, don’t ride it.

This is only cosmetic. The function of this part is essentially the same as the spacers above it; it’s just got a different shape for cosmetic reasons. Likely this is a hollow part and only the outer shell is cracked, unless the inside part is also cracked it’s still doing its job as spacer. This part is also not carbon, it’s just plastic.

Thank you all! Happy riding.

Its just a cover / spacer but that fact that it is cracked might indicate that the headset is incorrectly assembled. Just a thought.

if it broke by turning more than it could, check the little screw that holds it in place other than that its cosmetic they sell these as spare.
