  1. You’re basically there – you need to get the rest of the tire into the centre of the rim and then work it on bit by bit.

Now imagine this, but in the middle of the wilderness or at the side of the road. You know nothing of suffering!

Those are crappy tires levers sadly, and they break pretty easy. Heat the tire up a little with a blow dryer or in the hot summer sun. If you can get us out of Pedro’s entirely. They’re cheap and amazing.

You have to pinch it all around first and make sure that the tire is not sitting on the bead, but is in the centre. Then you just tug on it from the top and pop it in

  5. insert pedros plug here lol. push both beads into the middle of the tire and give it some.

Pinch the opposite side and make sure it’s centered on the rim, keep working out from the opposite side if you are unable to pry it on

I thought I knew all there was to know about mounting difficult tires until I was in the position you’re in now. Swallowed my pride and consulted YouTube, on the off chance that maybe there was something I could still learn. This video saved me a lot of tire levers, cursing and injured hands and fingers: [https://youtu.be/jvvXrlAUUfU?si=Av8HKpA-c1UTGxYU&t=34](https://youtu.be/jvvXrlAUUfU?si=Av8HKpA-c1UTGxYU&t=34)

The first tip was what saved me.

watch a youtube video, Most rim tire combos you should not need tire levers at all if you learn the technique.

squeeze the beads on both sides to the center of the rim (there’s channel there), and that should provide some more give when you try to get the last 6″ of bead over the rim. Buy quality levers…… Pedros, Park Tool. Tire Monkey works the best (but PITA to carry tho).

Vittorias are among the absolute worst in the business, but as many said, those are crap levers 😅 but there are tricks to getting the last bit on. But honestly, go with a different brand. I can recommend conti, pirelli and specialized among many others 👌

  11. The middle of the rim has a smaller diameter than the Sodes usually. So make Sure you get the side of the tire youre bor pulling off there. Then get pedros Levers. Though the schwalbe ones i recenrly got Are doing a pretty decent Job too and They come as three which is pretty Handy. As tire levers Are mad wir some Kind of polymers They might get worse over time so replacing them every now and then helps.

Always struggled with tires till I learned this hack. Once you get it to that stage, sit down with the wheel on your lap, with that unseated bead facing away from you (on your knees basically). Then use both PALMS instead of fingers/thumbs to work the bead toward the rim almost like you’re kneading dough in the reverse motion. Like opposite of twisting a throttle.

And like others will say, before you do that, make sure you have all of the slack out of the bead around the rim from the far side. It makes a difference!

  13. Those tire levers unfortunately suck, I’ve broken the exact same ones doing the exact same thing. (I got ’em free at a bike event.) Pedro’s are indeed better.

The best technique to make this as easy for yourself as possible is to get one side of the bead of the tire fully into the recessed center of the rim bed, then start putting the other side of the rim on, getting as much of that into the bed as possible. When you’re almost there (like you are in this image, but with the beads in the rim bed), you can *probably* get the rest of the way with your hands.

A good method *without* levers is to put the opposite side of the wheel, tire on your thighs, with the remaining flap to seat facing upwards, as you’re holding that opposite side of the wheel with your hands. Then you can use your thumbs to push the rest into place. That works pretty well for most rim-tire combos, and is your best side-of-the-road bet for getting things done. If it *doesn’t* work you’ve got a tricky rim-tire combo and quality levers should get you the rest of the way.

Make sure the bead is centered. Then use a hair dryer if you have one to heat up the tire. Makes it way easier.

Knock both sides fully off the bead and pinch the tyre to the centre of the rim, will slip on without needing tools

FINISH AT THE VALVE STEM!!! Start at the opposite side of the valve stem, make sure the tire beads are seated down in the center channel and finish at the valve stem. This gives you the most slack in the tire bead.

  17. You guys haven’t suffered until you changed an e scooter tyre, it made me wish I was fitting a schwalbe marathon or something. Absolute hell.
