Hiiii
I’m super new to this, I mean not to riding a bike necessarily…I take my current one to and from the gas station and other close by shops, rode a lot more when I was younger, but still nothing crazy. I’ve always had mountain bikes for some reason, even though I live in the city lol
Anyways long story short I’ve been wanting to ride more, and it just so happens I’m out of a car now, soooo, no better time than the present ig lol
I live in a fairly urban area, but it’s very hilly. Not flat. And for longer commutes, I’d definitely be riding it highways but probably also through the woods on occasion…
I’ve been researching the best commuter bikes/road bikes for beginners on a budget. I don’t need anything crazy, not looking to travel across country or anything, just get from place to place on a regular basis.
Budget is super tight, so it’s basically either marketplace or financing (which I’d prefer to avoid).
Ideally whatever I get id like it to last a while, and I’d like to be able to add a rear rack for shopping and taking my work bag and stuff with me, which ig hypothetically I could do with any of them 🤷🏻♀️ and I don’t mind putting a little work into one, as long as it’s nothing crazy complicated
I found this Dawes listed NWT for $100. Google says this brand is pretty reliable and from what I’ve seen it seems like a decent price?
The other one pictured is $195 I haven’t looked into too much, I only just saw that they’d responded while I was typing this lol so now I’m including it as well. I feel like it might be a little much for just starting off… but that’s based entirely on the aesthetic lol
Is there one that you all think would be best for my needs/price/etc, or if not do you have any recommendations?
Would one be better than the other for daily commuting/reliability and price point?
Sorry for the lengthy post! Thanks to anyone who can offer advice! 🤗 there’s so much info it’s a bit overwhelming sometimes lol

TLDR: looking for a beginner-ish daily commuter for decent distances but nothing crazy. On a budget. Found this Dawes for $100 and this other one for $195. Need something reliable, fairly quick, and able to withstand moderate hills, highways, and some light off-roading. Any recommendations or advice appreciated!
Without looking too deep into the specs, I would say that Dawes is better for what you want to do. That other one looks incredibly cheap.
Don’t get the Eurobike it’ll be the biggest pain not to mentions it’s unreliable, badly cheap, and unnecessarily heavy
If these are the two bikes your local has I would go for the dawes. Its probably got better components, its going to be more comfortable. It will handle some light off-roading. It does not have questionable carbon fiber parts and terrible shifters. Looks more standard as far as replacement parts would be concerned.
Tysm everyone! Appreciate your advice 🙂 I’m going to go with the Dawes which is what I was leaning towards anyway tbh, so this helps a lot!!
Riding through the woods would not be the Eurobikes forte. As much as the GCN Team love it, it’s not an off-road bike.
