I unfortunately overtightened this screw on the front panel, so it no longer grips the thread. I'm not sure whether the issue lies with the thread or the screw itself. Does the screw serve any other function besides securing this small cover? How can I fix the problem? I would appreciate any help.

The top cap is important, as it’s used to set preload on the bearings before you tighten the stem bolts. After that, it is an added safety, in case the stem bolts loosen up.
No offense, but you should not tighten unknown screws without a torque wrench and some basic knowledge.
Well, you are absolutely right. I used the Canyon torque wrench, but obviously wrong.
