Hi all!
I’ve been riding around town with a cheaper, retail MTB for a couple years. Sometimes for exercise- sometimes for errands or to cruise around. Now that I have proved to myself that I will frequently make use of a bike, I want to upgrade.

I really love the way road bikes from the 80s look. I found this Peugeot Carbolite 103 Road Bike on FB Marketplace. Any thoughts or known issues with this brand and model? Should I get this one? What are some things I should avoid or be aware of when buying a vintage road bike?

Thank you in advance:)! 🚲

  1. That’s a beautiful bike!

You are paying a bit of a premium on it compared to a less iconic bike, but other than that I don’t see anything wrong.

Older bikes in general usually can’t fit wider tires, which are more popular now due to being more comfortable and faster compared before.
