I built a jump as shown and I’m boosting it now after a few months. Just tilted it steeper and made landing steeper and hitting constantly but I still get nervous. I obviously figured out a few beers helps a ton. Anyone normally take a Xanax or a few beers before jumping. Or does it eventually just flow naturally? Upper 30’s and clearing bigger jumps then I thought I would be this soon but still the nerves ahhhh.

Stop thinking about it and send it. That’s all their is to it really. Stop thinking and pedal.
This jump looks not right though. Take off and the landing are very close together for being so shallow. Could be a lot steeper.
Xanax and beers is crazy 😂 lmao, just stick to a few beers and send it.
Get some pads like chest, shins, arms all that and hit it til the pass get so annoying you don’t care I’d you eat shit, it’ll be better than them chaffing ass pads
I can’t say I’d recommend slamming a Xan before hitting jumps. Sometimes certain things in life are worth fighting your mind over, this (in my opinion) is one of those. The more you do it the more confidence you’ll get.
You do not want your riding confidence tied into drug or alcohol use. You’ll maybe use the excuse to keep getting “loose”
Don’t take xanax when riding, i displaced my coccyx that way, had no reflex, looped out in a series of whoops. I still remember braking in the air.
Yeh boy, get a video up.
Weird jump shape…. But….you could use this to practice for hitting spines
I learned 180s after a few beers, and find they make me nervous. I like cruising while sipping a few with the wife, and it’s amazing how the audience of one made me 1000 times more confident. Maybe because I have help if I eat it?
Drop the bars. Nasty thing
Once you fall/bail out you realize it’s not that bad. I think most people should be able to avoid falling on this little jump you probably only going 2 feet above the ramps anyway
Why don’t you ditch the wooden ramp and just build some dirt table tops or whatever? I always started with tables when I was getting comfortable since if you don’t clear them it doesn’t matter. Build a berm at your fence so you can slow down.
Honestly jump off to the side a few times and then try sending with 1 extra pedal and see from there. Bunny hop high as fuck and it seems like the tree gonna be in the way lol but that’s from my phone idk how it looks in person.
If you run out of space then maybe build a type of bank after so you can kill all your speed or go up, hop 180 back down.
Can’t wait to get a house so I can lay out some riding spots lol
Confidence comes with experience and skill. There’s no way around that.
The problem I see here is that this jump isn’t set up for building either. It would actually take a lot of skill to “boost” this setup properly. It’s not steep enough for the shortness of the gap. Anything that is less than a bike length of gap means that you really have to snap straight up and down in a way that you can’t just “send” your way into success.
It might be that you just don’t have the space to build a setup that will be conducive to learning effectively. Ride a park or chill street spots until you actually understand the motion involved.
Do you ride with friends or by yourself mostly? Riding with other supportive riders helps my confidence so much. Sometimes when I ride by myself I get in my head too much.
I also have beers and ride but like that other person said, it’s best not to make that your confidence… I need to take that advice too.
