Need a new axle for the rear wheel of my 1986 Schwinn Sprint, suggestions?

As you can see in the pictures, axle is gone and I need to replace it for the rear wheel of my 1986 sprint schwinn, 27”. Any chance of finding a replacement axle or should I get a replacement for the wheel of my?
