  1. A bit irrelevant, but what I wonder is whether or not he is being criminally charged. So sorry about your catastrophic accident.

  2. That’s damaged beyond economical repair, i.e., total loss. It was “only” a Triban to begin with. The rear triangle is broken. Welding aluminium is rather difficult. The cost for that might come close to the cost of replacing the entire bike, there’s an awful lot else on it that is broken, and even the components that aren’t broken might not be trustworthy any more (e.g., carbon fork). Let the driver’s insurance deal with it.

  3. I’m sorry but your bike is fucked, you might same some peripherals like levers, fork etc but the frame is bent in the back triangle, so no coming back from that

  4. Wow, so sorry about the accident and glad you are going to recover. I have never seen a seat fail like that before. I guess you were heading in a different direction than the bike and the seat stayed with you.

Sorry to hear of your crash. Heal fast. Don’t try to fix that bike, not worth the cost or risk. Make the fool who crashed into you buy you a new bike and pay your expenses and lost wages while you heal up. That’s important not just for you, but for all of us. Insurance companies need to understand how dangerous it is when nitwits don’t watch the road when driving, and the only language they understand is money.

    Heal fast, brother cyclist!

  6. Absolutely, get a good lawyer. Your injuries are severe enough to have life long consequences and you should be compensated. Don’t underestimate this.
