Tried this trip in '23 but got horrible chafing on day 2. No such issue this time(a lot more preventative measures). Six days to the bridge and day seven on the island. Sun the first day, mist the second day, then overcast and headwind the rest of the trip. I'd rather be cold than hot, but it was getting kinda old towards the end. Got a hotel in Charlevoix on day five to get a good rest for our last stretch to the bridge. Just dodged the memorial day rush at the bridge, so I'm thankful for that. Got a 20ft uhaul in St. Ignace to go back home. They didn't have a smaller option. We felt a bit silly putting two bikes in that big ol' truck.

Should specify we started in Kalamazoo. Took country roads until we reached the white pine trail just south of Rockford. That takes you all the way to Cadillac, which was nice. Then we took old 131 to Kalkaska, country roads until Torch Lake and rode along the shoreline until we cut to Central Lake. Country roads from there to Charlevoix and jumped on the trail there all the way to the Bridge. Bridge Authority took us across to St. Ignace.
