Alors qu’on approche de la fin de la deuxième semaine, le peloton du Tour d’Italie faisait une escale en Slovénie ce samedi 24 mai, avec une arrivée jugée à Nova Gorica après 195 km de course. Et sur ce tracé pourtant peu sélectif et promis aux purs sprinteurs, on a assisté à un final totalement fou et peut-être l’un des gros tournants de ce Giro. La journée suivait en effet tranquillement son cours sous la pluie… jusqu’à cette grosse chute survenue sur des pavés glissants et une route étroite à 22km qui a tout chamboulé, le peloton se scindant en plusieurs petits groupes avec de nombreux coureurs du général impliqués ou piégés, à l’exception du maillot Rose Isaac Del Toro. En a résulté un final chaotique où il y en avait de partout… et dont a su profiter un opportuniste et épatant Kasper Asgreen (EF Education-EasyPost) pour s’imposer ! Dernier rescapé de l’échappée matinale après s’être isolé à 6 bornes du but, le baroudeur danois a réalisé un numéro dont il a le secret pour résister au retour d’un “peloton” très réduit après les incidents du final.

[Music] But as got himself in a breakaway that had no chance of success and somehow somehow the break has it driven on by the day the former winner of the tour of Flanders out of sorts by his own high standards over the last couple of years battling illness and injury. Casper Asgrain win once again wins once again and EF Education first take win number two at the Geod Italia. That was nothing short of sensational by As the motor behind the breakaway. He wins and he wins by a handsome margin over the chase that was powerless to do anything. [Applause] [Music] But uh he does have a habit of when he wins he wins big stages of the tour to France stage of the Jirro datalia winner of the tour of Flanders four years ago but this is his first victory for his new team EF Education Easy Post a new chapter for the 30-year-old Dane and Casper Asgrain has done it. [Applause] given permission by his team to get in the move today which in itself is a a striking thing you know that normally I’d have thought a big team like EF Education Easy Post would have said no don’t not today we’ve got a big day tomorrow today’s not the day but they gave him permission and boy have they got their reward yeah definitely all smile for Casper Asgren expert Dennis rider also benefit for some free travel on a train in Italy. What a ride. It was uh impressive. I think it says a lot how strong he can be when he sees the opportunity a little bit holding on his back when he has to stand up. Probably he’s going to suffer. He spend the whole day in an arrow position. Yeah, he was in pain and regaining a straightforward position. Well, it’s his first Gro Italia and it’s his first win on Italian soil and it’s another win for Denmark as well. They’ve celebrated. They’ve seen their compatriate Maz Pison do this four times, but it’s over to another Dane to pop open the champagne cork. Casper Asgrain back to winning form. Plenty more to come from EF Education Easy Post as well as they take that champagne bottle back to the hotel and assess how to approach the final week of racing and indeed tomorrow where Richard Karapas you couldn’t rule him out. He’s really suffering on all times today and mostly at around about 1 minute and still he won by 16 seconds. It’s remarkable. Yeah. At 35 km to go, they were already at 46 seconds and he managed yet to win by a margin of a very considerable margin of 16 seconds. So a wonderful ride by Kasparen with his long tights. Everyday he was like this. So it makes the old Malor Roza quite a tight fit to get over all that all that extra layers that Isak Del Toro pulls on. Obviously, when he’s not racing and he hasn’t got that extraordinary engine up to speed, he feels the cold a little bit. And each day the smile becomes more and more routine really for Isak Delo. Yeah. No champagne popped open. You know, sometimes like the riders when when when they know they get some times of over a crash by somebody else, they’re not much pleased, especially the racers, the pure racers such as Isaac Deloro. But the once again, they reshaped overall standing. That’s the biggest lead he’s had over oneo. Uh before before the time trial, he had a 113 lead over one. It’s now 126. Yeah.
