The cable was too long and touching the chain. I have cut it but in a stupid way as i had no tools while riding. When I got home, I cut it with a cable cutter and put a cap on it (the cap was a bit too small). No damage beyond that.
Does it look ok or do I need to try to unfray it more?

It’s only cosmetic, won’t affect braking
In the future, you can just bend the cable so it’s not touching the chain.
It’s only cosmetic. Providing everything is adjusted correct, it should work fine. That said, if it was mine, I would probably trim and recap.
I had almost the exact same thing happen with a brake cable. Absolutely nobody noticed, but my OCD got the best of me and I “fixed” it after about a week.
