With those photos I can’t really tell what I’m looking at, but I’m thinking that’s a linkage, so it’s most likely not replaceable unfortunately

Fixed no, replaced sure. They sell universal shocks with spacers if you need them. I’d try finding a used one at your local bike co-op.

See a Trek dealer. They can probably get the part for you.
Edit: that’s probably not going to help much. The bike is 25 years old, give or take. Parts for this are likely Ling gone.
Might be time for a newer bike.
