Solo bicycle tour through southern Europe.
Plan: 9 Countries, 2.494km, 23 days of cycling 100km, two days buffer, Peugeot bike from the 90s.
Four days before my departure the weather forcast predicted heavy snowfall for my planned route crossing over the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße. Alternatively, unable to avoid snow on the summits any other way, I was forced to bypass the mountaintops by taking the train through the Tauernschleuse from Bad Gastein to Mallnitz-Obervellach.
The trip ended after 25 days at Agios Nikolaos on the Peloponnese, Greece. After 2.355km, 20.720 m altitude, lots of sweat and curses, frustating and absolutelly stunning moments I was thrilled to reach my destination not having suffered a single flat tire or any other technical issue on my roughly 30 year old bike.
