Moved to the city and wanted to start commuting into work, but didn’t enjoy sitting so aggressively on my road bike. Took some tips from a friend and found this frame local and started adding parts – VO Klunkers from Craigslist, Brooks and front rack/basket from FB Marketplace, rear basket from another bike, bags from an old bikepacking rig, and a couple of other parts ordered new.

Glad to say I’m riding comfy and smooth, way more enjoyable around the city than the others bikes I’ve got. Swapping in my old bar end shifters to get of these grip shifters next!

  1. Perfect. Parallels my new Polyvalent build a bit. Yours is even more upright, though! I’m sure I’ll get down to the Capitol for pics, too. Not very far from me.

  2. First time I visited DC I was impressed how much of the city is set aside for cyclists and how many people actually bike everywhere. It’s not perfect but I was surprised not knowing it existed.

I’ve got a hunch that grip shifts are soon to be the next in retro thing. Downtubes, barends, thumbies, it’s all been done. Maybe you shouldn’t rush 🙂

They’re actually pretty easy to use, for me anyway, I never had any problem with them.
