No more being hunched over the side of the bike fidling around with Velcro.

No more leaving the thing in the bike because I don’t wanna spend a minute attaching/detaching the bag when I go into the convenience store.

Takeout boxes? No problemo. Groceries? Hey as long as it isn’t too tall you can carry a good bit of stuff.

Doesn’t seem like it should be a big deal but I am so happy I splurged for a [nice Ortlieb bag.](https://www.ortlieb.com/en_us/up-town-rack-city)

  1. Yes baskets are easier. Panniers can carry a bit more though and protect from rain. The weight is also distributed lower. As for your issue with removing the bag I leave mine on and they have never been stolen. I thought it was just me but some guy left his bike outside with the same pannier bags attached a week ago and they’re still there. They’re quick release as well.

  2. I used to use a Ortlieb rack basket until it fell off and someone grabbed it. Lost my work clothes and laptop.

They don’t make that one anymore and it looks like the new ones have a different attachment mechanism. I am tempted to buy a basket and then just put a regular bag in it.
