About a month ago the gear thing for my chain did something and now it won't stay in place and I'm not sure how to fix it/what to buy or do to fix it. If anyone here can help me out please let me know
that’s your sprocket. whether it’s broken or not is hard to tell, either way the first thing you’ll want to try is to get a set of allen and socket wrenches. you’ll want to first loosen your back wheel to release tension on your chain.
then loosen the pinch bolt on your cranks (thats the very top bolt on your cranks). after that, try to align the sprocket as best you can making sure it seats correctly between your cranks and the bottom bracket on your frame.
once that’s all good you’ll basically go in reverse order. so you’ll tighten the spindle bolt which is the circular one that runs into the bottom bracket on your cranks, then re-tighten the pinch bolts to hold everything in place, then pull on your back wheel to get the tension set on your chain and simultaneously tighten the nuts. have someone knowledgeable do it if you cant
