Purchased a 90s chromoalloy MTB which has had new shifters (7 speed Microshift) installed. However, it’s running a very small chainring.
Looking for something upwards of 42+ that’s compatible with a 7 speed.
Can you please recommend a compatible chainring?

Your chainring selection is going to depend more on the BCD than the number of gears in the back. Without knowing that, recommendations are kind of moot. I like Wolf Tooth and FSA, but I don’t know if they make a 42T that’s compatible with your asymmetrical bolt pattern. Find out what that is first.
This is a bike shop question. No one is going to be able to source a chainring for you from this information. You need to know BCD and then you kind of have to guess how much frame clearance you have and what you can fit in the space.
