Looks like it’ll do fine. Not too many rack options, which could be a limitation. Yellow alloy parts might be slightly low quality, but that’s not a deal breaker. Might need a slightly smaller front chain ring if you’re a heavy packer. I’d personally swap out the seatpost for one that can be adjusted via hex key.

Key idea about bikepacking: have a bike. Doesn’t matter which one. You pack stuff on it. You go. What you have is ideal. Steel frame white lots of options. Go for it, you’re good!

I did a trip 20 yrs ago on sth like this in worse condition and headed back home the 2nd day of what was meant to be a week long journey.

nice bike. handlebars with more hand positions are an upgrade you can think about. and a lether saddle is always better. and you can always put the parts on another bike later

Looks beautiful. Racks will be fine: it has mounting points for a rear rack and you can get a cantilever mounted front rando rack. Otherwise, plenty of clearance for big handlebar/saddle bags. If it fits you it’ll be great.

It would be fine but not ideal. Rim brakes may be a bummer if you are loaded down. Geometry is dated.
