Didn't see the small hill behind the guy in black. Nearest hospital 150 miles away had only an xray which shows 4 broken ribs. 3 from the fall. 1 from the bike doing a 360 vertical flip and hitting me from the back with the lower tube. Hit me so hard my water bladder in the backpack started pouring water from the tube. Evacuation comes on 23rd. I'm currently in a small village in the guest house. Thanks God, people are kind and caring here. Ride safe.

Ohhhhhh, I remember that feeling! Awful, simply awful. Don’t laugh, sneeze or cough for 8 weeks!

    Good luck!

  2. Oh boy…

I know the feeling of the broken ribs. Glad you didn’t puncture your lung. I wish you all the best.

Best example why driving on open terrain (without defined trail) in high speed is quite dangerous.

I’ve never broken a bone in my 40 years, that sounds you made nearly gave me second hand broken ribs

You seem to have gotten some decent air time off of … nothing? There isn’t anything on that terrain that seems like it would have flicked you that severely. You seemed to be totally in control. My only guess is, the bump prior unloaded your grip on the front, and perhaps the recoil of your suspension unsettled your bike enough through the second undulation? How soft is your fork / rear sus?

Anyway enough of my mindless nit picking. I really do hope you heal and bounce back better than ever. Those views are worth a second round.

Crazy man, I’m glad you didnt puncture a lung! I hope you heal up quick!

  7. Sucks about the ribs, but that crash sequence is an amazing video at least. The split second where you see the bike flying off on its own in pure cinema.

Rest up and get back out there!

  8. Broke two last years on different occasions- one was a slippery tree hidden in high grass at 45deg – total washout. The second was in shuttle based place – the pedal got caught in the grass and the handlebar hit the rib cage, took more than 6 months to recovery. New year and new opportunities to fail 😇

    Wish OP a speedy recovery!

    Speedy recovery.

Looked like it was going to be an epic ride.

    Next time.

How did you get to medical care?
. Hope you heal up quick over there

Dang man, broken ribs was the worst pain iv ever felt. Just trying to get out of bed, or roll over for the next couple weeks will be hell. They do heal suprisingly quick though.

Damn man close to nightmare scenario. Heal up fast. That’s some off piste mtb

  13. Jesus! That made my balls retract. You’ll be fine eventually mate – broken ribs are bad man – you won’t die, but you might wish you did. What gear are you riding?

Ribs are the worst to hurt. Sitting hurts, laying hurts, can’t cough, sneeze or laugh without excruciating pain. Sorry for your injury OP, but I hope you heal up well and soon.

  15. Holy shit man! That was about as “out of nowhere” as a crash like that can be. I still don’t really know how it happened, but you definitely got yeeted!

Ugh, ribs…agree with others, the worst. Had wrist, arm, thumb, ankle, nose…would take 10 of them again before another rib. Sorry man, hang in there. For me it was two weeks of pure hell before I could begin to function. But hey, you got a cool story and vid to back it up!
