So the chain keeps getting caught on one of the cogs it seems. I’m brand new to the cycling world and don’t know where to begin to sort this out. The rear derailleur is SRAM X1 Eagle AXS. If it’s a fix that’s not too advanced I’m happy to give it a go myself, but I need to know where to begin (so I can google a solution lol) Thanks everyone!
What’s going on and how can I fix it?

stop by a shop and check your chain and cassette wear. how many miles do you have on it?
I’ve had exactly this happen when one of the teeth on the cassette is slightly bent. This can happen on a mis-shift that results in the bend. I’ve also seen it happen on a brand new cassette. And, the problem only happens when that tooth aligns with an outer plate.
It’s usually the tooth of the cog one larger where the chain currently is, and nudging it over (inboard on the bike) with a screwdriver sorts it out. In my experience it takes about half a millimeter of adjusting and all is good.
But look CLOSELY and be sure it’s this first. Don’t just go bending things without being absolutely sure, or you’ll mess things up worse.
The chain is touching the shift ramp of the next cog. I’d try a simple micro adjust. SRAM has a good YouTube video. Make sure the hanger is straight also just for safety.
Stiff link perhaps?
Does that jockey wheel have wide/narrow teeth? Some do.
If so are the wide teeth engaging with the wide links?
It may be that you have a bad chain link that causes a tiny jump. I’ve had this after reinserting a link pin. Good luck!
My guess is hanger is probably slightly out of alignment. I have pretty much the same issue. It’s a tiny amount, equates to ~10mm at the rim using an alignment tool, you’d never notice just by eyeballing it, but it completely screws up the shifting. If I straighten it, everything works fine, my problem is it won’t stay straight.
This is something you’ll probably want the shop to look at, as alignment tools are quite pricey, especially for a tool you’ll hardly ever use, plus if it’s a new bike its possibly a facing issue on the frame stopping the hanger from sitting square.
