Bought the bike 2nd hand in 1998. Got hit by a car a few years later. Had to make the change to a threadless headset system. Old fork got folded in half. I worked at a shop for about 10 years. Shortly after buying the bike, we went to interbike in Vegas. Bontrager had just recently been bought by Trek and Keith Bontrager was at the show. I showed him pictures of the bike and asked if he remembered making it. He told me it was one of the first he ever made in his garage before mtn biking was really a thing. I built it for commuting. Commuted every day for 2 years. Made the newspaper woohoo. It's changed a lot. Have had fenders and/or a rack at various times.
