This is the set up I have right now. It doesn’t seem to work well, doesn’t seem smooth, and is very loud. Do you have any tips? Should I use I different bike like a road bike. I found this in my garage and got the trainer on fb marketplace. I’m trying to be a hybrid athlete and figured this is good to do while I’m studying for school

The trainer and bike can get pretty loud. Getting newer and better gear could help with noise, but may not be worth it for you. They can cost a lot. Best bet is put in some ear buds and hopefully it will not bother any else. If you want to upgrade I would recommend a zwift smart bike. It is fairly quiet imo and i enjoy mine for indoor rides.

Hey, a bike to ride is a great thing. A few initial things I would check for:
    – Fit: check your seat height against your handlebar height to make sure it feels comfortable while you’re riding. Checkout a YouTube video or two on bike fits. You’ll thank your back later and it’ll be more enjoyable
    – Resistance on the tire: make sure your trainer is only about a quarter turn “tight” once you hit the point your tire will no longer spin freely.
    – Add a speed / cadence sensor to make it fun: you can use these with Strava, TrainerRoad, Zwift, etc. and track your rides. It can help gamify it and also pairs well with tossing a movie or TV show on a screen in front of you too

Overall, just try to enjoy it. You can absolutely always upgrade your bike and trainer, but find joy in having a functional setup and use these crap out of it

Those are loud even with slicks get some trainer tires. I have put mine on a cheap yoga mat no to annoy the neighbors below too much.
